Chapter 124
Raven’s POV
“Five more minutes,” I groaned, growling softly at the blaring alarm clock before slapping it off.
My fingers fumbled with the button until silence returned to the dim room. I turned my head lazily and let my eyes settle on Beta Matthew, who lay peacefully beside me.
His face was relaxed, his lips slightly parted as he breathed, his chest rising and falling
He looked so… cute.
a
soothing rhythm.
Too cute.
The kind of cute that made my chest ache with an unfamiliar warmth. The
that made it hard to remember everything i was running from.
I shifted closer to him, careful not to wake him, and reached out to gently touch his face. My fingertips brushed against his cheekbone, trailing down the line of his jaw. His skin was warm and smooth, softer than I expected.
“Why are you doing this?” my wolf asked suddenly, her tone a low grumble in
my head.
“I just…” I hesitated. “He’s been kind to us.”
“Kind isn’t enough. He’s not our mate.”
Her voice was firm, with that stubborn certainty only a wolf could carry.
“Beta Matthew is nothing” she scoffed, “nothing compared to Alpha Ethan. You know that. You feel it. He’s our mate, Raven. Not this… placeholder.”
I grated my teeth. “Can you shut up for once?”
Before she could retort, a shift beside me broke my focus. Matthew stirred, a faint smile curling his lips as he blinked up at me.
“Admiring me, are we?” he teased, his voice hoarse with sleep.
I yanked my hand away like I’d been caught stealing cookies from ajar. “No, I wasn’t! Don’t flatter yourself.”
“Oh really?” he grinned, turning to face me fully. “I was awake for a bit. I saw you. Didn’t want to interrupt your moment.”
“You’re ridiculous,” I muttered, my face heating up.
“And you’re adorable when you’re flustered.”
Before I could come up with a witty comeback, he rolled on top of me, pinning me down with his body. His weight was comforting, and his scent was familiar and safe.
My breath caught as he hovered over me, our faces barely inches apart.
“Your morning face,” he whispered, brushing his nose against mine, “is so damn pretty. I’m glad I got to wake up beside you.”
I blushed furiously, my fingers fisting his shirt instinctively.
“Matthew…” I began, but the way he was looking at me made my stomach do a slow, somersault twist.
He leaned down and kissed my forehead, tender and soft. It was a simple gesture, yet it made my heart beat a little faster.
Without thinking, I used the grip I had on his shirt to roll us over.

He let me, chuckling in surprise as I ended up on top, straddling him. His hands came to rest lightly on my hips. We both laughed quietly, our breaths mingling in the morning air.
And then everything stilled.
Our faces were so close, barely a breath apart. His eyes searched mine, and mine flicked to his lips without meaning to. I saw the subtle movement of his Adam’s apple as he swallowed hard.
And then
BANG!
The door crashed open.
We both froze.
“WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!”
Alpha Ethan’s voice cracked like thunder across the room
My body went rigid on top of Matthew, who didn’t even try to move me off him. I looked toward the door, heart pounding, and met those familiar furious eyes. Alpha Ethan stood there, rage and disbelief etched on every inch of his face.
Oh no.
I stayed where I was, intentionally.
“Why would you barge into someone’s room like that?” I asked calmly, brushing my hair off my face and staring him down. “What if we were…
love?”

I smirked inwardly at the way his jaw clenched, his hands balling into fists at his sides. His eyes darkened, and his nostrils flared.
I loved that expression.
The sheer anger in his features.
The jealousy, the pain he tried so hard to hide. It made a wicked part of me feel seen.
“You are so cheap,” he spat, his voice a bitter hiss. “From the Alpha to the Beta now? Do
you
even have any shame left?”
Before I could respond, Matthew growled beneath me, his arm coming up to hold me gently around the waist. “Don’t speak about my like that,” he snapped.
Alpha Ethan blinks. The words hit him like a slap. “What… did you just say?”
I saw it. That flicker of confusion.
Good.
I smiled sweetly and ran a finger down Matthew’s chest. “He and I are this obsession you’ve got with me, it’s time to move on.”
Alpha Ethan didn’t move.
Didn’t blink.
He just stared at me like I’d ripped his heart out with my bare hands.
Perfect.

dating now,” I said slowly, lifting my eyes to Ethan’s. “We’re together. So whatever
Chapter 124
My wolf whimpered deep inside me, torn, restless.
But I didn’t let the pain show on my face.
Not when I could finally make him feel something.
Even if it killed me:
