Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 147

Chapter 147

Chapter 147

Raven’s POV

Three Days Later

I woke up to the sound of birds chipping outside my window. I groaned softly, sitting up and rubbing my eyes.

It’s been three days since Alpha Ethan was injured and taken to the clinic, and yesterday he had been discharged.

That meant I had no more reason to be near him, and I had used that as an excuse to avoid everyone, especially Matthew.

My wolf stirred within me, her voice calm but teasing.

You miss him. Just admit it.

I scoffed internally. Miss who?

You know exactly who.

The broody Alpha you say you hate and the Beta whose heart you bruised. But mostly him.

I don’t hate Ethan,” I admitted, dragging myself to my feet. I just can’t forget what he did.

But you’ve forgiven him,she nudged gently.

I stood in front of the mirror, my eyes meeting my reflection. Tired. Worn. But healing.

YesI have. I just can’t forget the trauma I went through in his hands. The pain, the humiliation. Forgiveness came, but forgetting?I shook my head slowly. That’ll take time.

My wolf sighed. Whatever decision you make, RavenI’m with you. Always.

A soft smile tugged at my lips. Thanks.

I turned and headed to the bathroom. Today was my first official training session.

Not with Alpha Ethan, thank the Moon Goddess, but with the regular warriors. No special treatment, no personal tutors.

I was ready to get stronger, not just physically, but mentally too. I needed to be ready. Especially after Olivia’s veiled threat the last time we

spoke.

The way her words slithered through my mind even now made my spine stiffen.

I shook the memory off like dust, letting the hot water of the shower wash the thoughts away. I needed to stay focused. The stronger I got, the more prepared I’d be to defend myself. From her. From anyone.

When I stepped out of the shower, I felt refreshed, if a little anxious. I went to my closet, picked out a pair of snug black training pants and a matching longsleeved crop top.

It hugged my form, and I tied my hair into a messy ponytail before grabbing a bottle of water and heading out.

The sun was already high when I reached the training grounds. Warriors were scattered across the large field, each in their own bubble, sparring or stretching.

I avoided the center and found a quiet corner hear a tree, where I started my stretches. I didn’t even know if I was doing them right, but I képt going anyway.

I refused to let doubt get in the way.

I mimicked some moves 1 had seen others doing, trying to focus on my breathing and form. Sweat began to bead at the back of my neck, and I was just about to switch to pushups when I felt it.

A presence behind me.

I turned quickly, eyes wide, heart stopping for a second, and froze.

Betà Matthew.

My breath caught in my throat. We hadn’t spoken since the hallway argument. Since he called me a twofaced liar.

Since I shattered whatever fragile connection we had built between us.

He looked the same: strong, calm, and composed, but there was something different in his eyes. A guarded softness. A flicker of uncertainty.

He didn’t say anything at first. Just stepped closer and corrected the way I held my stance.

Your knees need to be bent more. You’ll injure yourself like that.

I blinked up at him, stunned. You’rehelping me?

He didn’t look at me directly; he just gave a small shrug. Training is serious. I wouldn’t want you to hurt yourself because of poor form.

1 swallowed hard and nodded. Thanks.

We trained together after that.

At first, it was awkward two people pretending they weren’t carrying a mountain of unresolved tension. But gradually, the space between us

shrank.

He corrected my posture, helped me with footwork, and even showed me how to throw a proper punch.

He never smiled. But his voice softened. His walls began to lower just enough.

We didn’t speak much outside of training instructions, but I found myself glancing at him every few minutes, wondering if this was a second chance to fix things.

An hour passed. Then another.

By the end of the session, I was drenched in sweat, muscles sore and heavy, lungs burning, but there was something almost exhilarating

about it. I hadn’t felt this alive in weeks.

I wiped my forehead with the back of my hand, then turned to him slowly.

Matthew,I said, voice barely above a whisper. He looked up at me, his face unreadable.

I bit down on my lower lip before continuing. I just wanted to sayI’m sorry.”

He frowned slightly. For what?

Foreverything. For playing with your feelings. For dragging you into my mess. For making you think I was over Ethan when clearly, I
