Chapter 149
Raven’s Pov
“I’ll make things right,” I whispered to no one in particular, my fingers curling around the edge of the bedspread. “Then… I’ll deal with Oliva,
Her name burned on my tongue like acid. I had let her haunt me for too long. That would end soon.
Somewhere in the middle of that storm of thoughts, the weight of exhaustion finally won. I hadn’t even realized when my eyelids fell shut, or when my body slumped back against the bed.
The world around me faded away. Knock, knock, knock.
1 flinched.
The pounding on the door was relentless, slicing through the haze of sleep like a knife. My eyes blinked open, disoriented. For a moment, I
didn’t know where I was.
Then I sat up abruptly, rubbing at my face. My gaze darted toward the window.
It was dark. Night had fallen.
“Damn it,” I cursed under my breath, pushing my hair back. “I slept too long.”
Knock knock.
The knocking continued, more urgent this time. I dragged myself to my feet, still blinking away the fog of sleep, and walked to the door.
Opening it revealed a maid in uniform, her expression polite but impatient.
“Dinner is ready, Miss Raven,” she said with a small bow.
“Everyone is waiting for you.”
I nodded, trying not to groan at the idea of walking into a room full of eyes.
“I’ll be there in a minute.”
She bowed again and walked off down the hall. I shut the door, took a deep breath, and headed to the bathroom.
I splashed cold water on my face, scrubbing away the dried tears and sleep marks.
My reflection stared back at me pale but determined. I applied a light layer of face cream, just enough to freshen up my look.
Then I reached for a clean outfit something simple but flattering.
A soft burgundy top that hugged my waist and black pants that made my legs look longer. I added a delicate necklace, the only piece of jewelry I owned that hadn’t been stolen, and brushed my hair.
By the time I stepped out of the room, I felt like a different version of myself still broken, still healing, but not defeated.
As I neared the dining room, the low murmur of voices floated toward me. My heart thudded faster.
Then I stepped in.

Chapter 149
Chandellers cast golden light across the long table, lined with elegant dishes and filled with wolves from the upper circle of the pack.
At the head sat Alpha Ethan, his usual intimidating presence impossible to ignore.
There was one empty seat beside him.
Twalked toward it slowly, aware of the sudden hush that spread across the table. Chairs scraped slightly, forks paused in mid–air. All eyes
were on me.
But I didn’t shrink.
Treached the seat beside Alpha Ethan and sat down gracefully.
“Good evening, mate,” I said, my voice even, eyes locked on him.
The shock on his face was almost comical. His brows arched, his hand froze over his glass of wine. He stared at me like I’d just grown two
heads.
“Can we eat now?” I added, casually breaking a bread roll.
The rest of the room seemed to exhale at once. Conversations resumed–awkward at first, then slowly natural again: Plates clinked. Wine poured.
But I felt his gaze on me.
Heavy. Intense
I turned slightly, meeting his eyes.
“How are you?” I asked, spearing a piece of meat delicately. “I haven’t seen you since morning.”
“I’m… sorry,” he replied, voice low and cautious. “I had things to attend to.”
I gave him a look. “Things more important than me?”
He looked almost guilty. “No. Of course not.” Then his eyes narrowed with concern. “Are you okay? Did you hurt your head?”
I tilted my head. “No. Why would you think that?”
“Because… you’re being unusually calm. Talking to me like…” He trailed off.
“Like your mate?” I offered, smiling slightly.
He blinked.
“Is it a crime now to talk to my mate?” I added smoothly, then leaned forward, scooping
Before he could react, I raised the fork and fed him.

a bite of mashed potatoes. “Here. Eat.”
His lips closed over the fork slowly, his eyes never leaving mine. For a moment, his expression was unreadable surprise, hunger, confus something more.
When dinner ended, I stood without a word and walked out after him.
He didn’t say anything as I followed. He didn’t stop me either.
Chapter 149
We walked through the quiet halls, the all thick with tension, When we get to his room, he uapped in innitatud ubaril.
He turned toward me, frowning “What happened to your room?
I crossed my arms. “Why all the questions? Don’t you want me near you again? if you don’t, I can leave
I turned on my heet, the ache of rejection already blooming in my chest.
But before I could take a full step, his hand wrapped tightly around my waist, pulling me back into him.
“You’re not going anywhere,” he growled, his voice hoarse against my ear. “You are mine.*
His grip was firm, almost desperate.
And just like that, the air around us changed.
I didn’t breathe. My heart slammed against my ribs. Every nerve in my body lit up, the mate bond surging like a wave crashing over me.
But I didn’t speak.
Because if I did… I might not be able to stop myself.
Instead, I looked up at him slowly, eyes meeting his. For once, he looked… uncertain. Torn between everything we had been and everything we could be.
“Are you going to let go,” I whispered, “or are we going to keep standing like this all night?”
He didn’t answer.
Instead, his gaze swept over me once more. From my lashes down to the curve of my waist, lingering on the neckline of my burgundy top.
Then a smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
