Mated To The Alpha King (Raven and Ethan) novel Chapter 17

Alpha Ethan POV

+39

I sighed in frustration as I made my way back to my room. I needed a good night’s rest, and first thing tomorrow morning, I was going to see the Seer. I got into the room, there was no trace of Olivia. I sighed in relief as I pulled off my clothes, putting on nightwear, and I was about to get some rest when! heard the bathroom door shut. I muttered to myself, And where the hell are you coming from?

Ethan,she asked, but I didn’t give her a response.

I’m talking

Stop it,I snapped at her. I’m not in the mood for this ranting. I need to go to bed. I have something important to do tomorrow,I told her. I didn’t even wait for her response when I slipped into the bed and pulled the cover over me. I could hear her whispering to herself, but I didn’t care as sleep claimed

  1. me.

Ididn’t dream. Or maybe I did, but whatever visited me in the night faded too fast to grasp. When I opened my eyes, the morning sun had already crept into the room, its golden rays slicing through the curtain like blades trying to peel me out of bed. My body achednot from battle, but from the mental weight I carried. Too much was happening all at once, and I needed clarity, or at the very least, direction.

That’s why I was going to see the Seer today.

I sat up slowly, the sheets falling off my chest in lazy folds. The bed beside me was empty. Olivia was gone again. Good. I didn’t have the patience for another one of her emotionally charged speeches. She wanted answers I wasn’t ready to give, and a connection I wasn’t ready to fake.

The clock on the wall ticked loudlytoo. I ran a hand down my face and stood up, the cold floor biting at the soles of my feet. Stretching, I let my muscles loosen, then headed into the bathroom. The mirror didn’t lie. I looked like hell. Dark circles sat under my eyes like bruises, my jaw clenched with tension 1 hadn’t released in weeks. My reflection seemed just as tired as I felt, just as lost.

As I ran the water and splashed my face, I muttered under my breath, Today better give me somethinganything.

Ten minutes later, I stepped out of the bathroom, towel around my waist, and walked over to the closet. I wasn’t in the mood for full Alpha regalia. I needed to move quickly and not draw attention. So I settled on a fitted black shirt, dark jeans, and my worn leather boots. I tied my hair back in a short, neat knot. Simple. Functional. Unassuming.

When I stepped out of the room, Olivia was waiting just outside the door, arms crossed over her chest, clearly annoyed.

Going somewhere?she asked, tone sharp.

I didn’t answer.

She shifted on her heel, eyebrows lifting. You’re not even going to have breakfast?

Still, I said nothing. I brushed past her.

Ethan.

I paused but didn’t look at her. I could feel the hurt in her voice, but I didn’t give a fuck I needed to get this off my mind.

She didn’t follow me, though I heard her let out a quiet sigh behind me as I descended the stairs.

  1. y. The kitchen was active- The pack house was quiet. Too quiet. Most were still in their quarters, or busy preparing for the patrols and routines of ti smells of eggs, toast, and coffee drifting down the hallbut I moved past it without pause. My wolf stirred slightly at the scent of meat, but I pushed the hunger away.

The Seer wasn’t someone I visited lightly. She resided in the forest, beyond the ridge, in the small ruins of what used to be an old temple long before any of us were born. Only a few pack members knew of her, and fewer had the courage to approach her. She didn’t speak to just anyone. But she’d agreed to

see me.

It took almost an hour on foot to reach the edge of the woods. I could have taken a vehicle, but i needed the walk. The stillness. The chance to breathe. With every step I took, I tried to gather my thoughts, but they scattered like dry leaves in the wind.

The deeper I went into the forest, the heavier the air became. The sun dimmed beneath the canopy of thick trees, and the silence was unsettlingnot peaceful, but expectant. Like the earth itself was holding its breath.

When I finally reached the Seer’s place, the ruins stood just as I rememberedancient stone walls covered in ivy, cracked pillars leaning like weary elders, and a wooden door set oddly into one of the stone structures, almost untouched by time. I hesitated for a moment, then knocked once.

The door creaked open before my knuckles could land a second time.

She was already waiting

The Seer stood in the shadowed threshold, her cloak drawn tightly around her shoulders. Her silver hair was braided down her back, and her eyesblind and milkyseemed to look straight through me.

Alpha Ethan, she said with a small, knowing smile. You came.

I said I would,I replied, trying to keep my voice level.

She stepped aside, motioning for me to enter. The inside was dimly lit with candles and scented with herbs and smoke. A strange calmness settled over me, though my wolf remained restless beneath my skin.

You seek answers, she said, closing the door behind me.

I nodded. Yes.

She moved to a table covered in bones, dried flowers, and old, crumbling scrolls. Many come seeking answers. Few accept the truths I offer.

I don’t care about riddles,I muttered. I just need to understand what the hell is happening to me.”

Her eyes flicked up, unreadable. Tell me.”

I let out a breath and stepped closer. There’s this girl. A maid.

Her eyebrows rose slightly, but she said nothing.

She helped us during the last attack. Put herself in danger. There was something about herI couldn’t ignore it. It’s not just gratitude. I-I hesitated, trying to find the right words. There’s a pull. Strong. Like nothing/I’ve felt before.

Still, she didn’t speak.

I clenched my fists. But I already have a mate. Olivia.

The words tasted sour in my mouth.

And yet,the Seer murmured, her voice almost too soft to hear, you do not feel the bond.

I shook my head slowly. Not like I should. Not the way they say it’s supposed to be. With Oliviait feels forced. Dutiful.

And with the maid?

I looked away. It feelsreal. Raw. Like something I don’t deserve.

Silence wrapped around us like fog.

I met her gaze again, frustrated. What does it mean? Am I broken? Is this some kind of curse?

The Seer turned back to the table, placing her hands over a bowl of water. She whispered something in a language I didn’t recognize, and the surface

rippled. Images began to swirlflashes of faces, wolves, moonlight, fire, blood.

Then nothing.

The water stilled.

She sighed. You seek clarity, Alpha, but the threads of fate have been tangled. The truth you want is not one I can give. Not yet.

I stepped forward. You have to give me something. I brought that girl into my pack because of feeling. I’m going crazy trying to fight it
