Chapter 193
Chapter 193
Raven’s Pov
I sat on the waiting chair as I waited for Derick to finish with the discharge papers, my fingers tapping against the metal armrest of the chair in a rhythm that betrayed my nerves.
The white walls of the hospital seemed to close in on me, the smell of antiseptic biting at my nose. I bit my lower lip nervously.
What if he finds out about the lies?
My wolf stirred inside me, her voice calm but edged with a warning. He won’t find out. At least not now. When you get to that bridge, you’ll cross it.
I wanted to believe her. I really did. But deep down, I knew lies had a way of clawing their way to the surface. They always did. Still, I swallowed the doubt and wrapped my arms around myself, trying to still the tremor running through me.
Before my wolf could add anything else, the sound of footsteps approaching interrupted our mental exchange. I lifted my eyes to find Derick walking toward me, his tall frame casting a commanding presence even in the sterile brightness of the hospital corridor.
He looked like he belonged anywhere but here his light skin glowing under the harsh light, his shirt pulling against a chest that seemed carved by the gods themselves, his band flashing where his collar dipped.
“I’m finished,” he said, his voice low and steady, carrying a weight of authority that made the nurses passing by lower their eyes respectfully.
My heart skipped, thudding against my ribcage as he gestured for me to rise. I stood, smoothing down the wrinkled hospital gown that clung to my body, and together we walked out of the hospital.
My chest tightened with each step, anticipation, and fear tangled in a dangerous mix.
The cool evening air hit my face the moment the glass doors slid open, and my breath caught at the sight before me.
Parked right outside was a Lamborghini, sleek and impossibly perfect, its black paint gleaming under the golden sunset. The kind of car I’d only ever seen in magazines.
My steps faltered. My heart pounded louder, almost drowning out the sound of traffic in the distance.
Derick, without a word, gestured toward it. “Get in.”
I hesitated, not because I didn’t want to, but because I was still trying to process the surrealness of it all. Not only was he breathtakingly handsome, but he was rich far beyond anything I could have imagined.
For a second, my wolf went utterly mute inside me, as if even she was too stunned to comment.
Heat rushed to my cheeks, and I cursed myself for blushing like a fool.

But Derick either didn’t notice or didn’t care. He leaned slightly toward the driver, his lips moving in a command. “Take us to the pack house.”
The words jolted me. My eyes snapped to his face. “Pack house?” I asked, my voice softer than I intended. I couldn’t stop staring at him. Something about the way he carried himself screamed power, dominance, and control. I needed to be sure. “Are you… are you an Alpha?”
“Yes,” he replied, his tone clipped but certain, like he didn’t need to prove anything to anyone. His gaze flickered toward me briefly before shifting back to the windshield.
“And I’m taking you to my pack. You don’t have anywhere else to go, and you need a safe place for your babies.”
Babies. The word echoed in my chest, and I placed a hand protectively over my stomach. My throat tightened, but I forced myself to remain composed. He wasn’t wrong.
I didn’t have anywhere else to go. No family. No pack that would claim me. And no safety.
I exhaled shakily, nodding once, though my doubts clawed at me. What if he regrets this decision when he learns everything?
The driver pulled the car smoothly into the road, and the city streets blurred by as we drove.
The further we went, the quieter it became, until the tall buildings gave way to trees, and the paved road melted into winding paths through thick woods.
My fingers gripped the edge of the seat as shadows danced across the glass.
The hum of the engine was the only sound, but inside me, my wolf pressed against my chest, uneasy yet oddly intrigued.
When the car finally slowed, my eyes widened. The woods opened up to reveal a massive mansion. No mansion wasn’t the right word.
This was a palace, sprawling and regal, with stone walls that climbed high and windows that reflected the pale moonlight.
Towers stretched skyward, their sharp points cutting into the night, and iron gates guarded the wide drive.
It looked like something out of a fairy tale, except I knew better fairy tales didn’t exist in our world.
The Lamborghini rolled to a stop, and the driver stepped out quickly to open my door.
Derick got out first, his tall frame commanding even more in the glow of the exterior lights. He turned, his expression unreadable, and gestured for me to follow.
I stood on shaky legs, the sight of the mansion making me feel smaller than I’d ever felt. “It’s… beautiful,” I whispered before I could stop myself.
Derick didn’t respond, but the corner of his mouth twitched as if he’d heard. He led the way up the marole
steps, the heavy double doors swinging open the moment we approached. Inside, I was greeted with a sight
