When I woke up, I was in the hospital with many strings attached to my body. The smell of medicine filled the air, and the steady beeping of a monitor echoed softly in the room.

My head felt heavy, but the moment I opened my eyes, the first thing I saw was Derick.

He was sitting right beside me, his face pale, his eyes fixed on me as though he had been afraid I wouldn’t wake up.

The second my eyes fluttered open fully, his face lifted, relief spreading across his features. He quickly reached for my hand, holding it firmly, as though he would never let go.

Raven,he whispered, his voice rough, thank the moon goddess you’re awake.”

I blinked a few times, trying to gather my strength. My throat was dry, my lips cracked. I gave him a faint smile, my voice coming out weak. I’m… I’m thirsty.

Without wasting time, he stood up and walked over to the dispensary across the room. I watched his back as he poured water into a cup, his shoulders tense. He moved quickly, returning to my side as though afraid I might disappear if he left me for too long.

Here,he said gently, holding the cup to my lips. He tilted it carefully so I wouldn’t spill. The cool water slid down my throat, and I sighed in relief.

Thank you,I murmured, leaning back against the pillow. My fingers still held onto his hand, as if my body refused to let him go. After a pause, I looked up at him. Whatwhat did the doctors say?

For a moment, his eyes shifted away. He sighed, his chest rising and falling, as if he didn’t want to answer.

Derick,I said softly, squeezing his hand. You can tell me. I won’t be scared.

He looked at me again, his eyes filled with worry. Finally, he spoke. They said it’s a prolonged labor. It meansyou’ll be here longer than we expected. It’s going to take more time.

I nodded slowly, trying to be brave. The truth didn’t scare me as much as the thought of being alone. But I wasn’t alone. He was here. As long as you’re with me,I whispered faintly, I’ll be fine.

He brushed his thumb over the back of my hand, his expression softening. I’m not going anywhere. Tell me what you need, Raven. Anything. Just say it.

Nothing,” I whispered. Just stay by my side.”

He nodded firmly and moved closer, sitting beside me on the bed.

His presence was like a shield, protecting me from the fear that tried to creep in. I wanted to tell him how much it meant to me, how I didn’t know what I would have done without him, but the words stuck in my throat. Instead, I just smiled faintly, letting him see my gratitude in my eyes.

We talked about random things for a while little memories, silly moments, even jokes that made me chuckle weakly,

He told me about a time he and his beta got lost on a hunting trip and ended up sleeping under a tree, shivering all night because they had forgotten blankets.

I laughed softly, even though laughing hurt a little. His stories kept me distracted, kept me calm.

An hour passed. I reached out and touched my stomach gently, feeling the faint movement of the babies inside me. A tear slipped from my eye as I whispered, I can’t wait to meet you.”

Derick noticed, his hand joining mine on my belly. His eyes glistened, his lips curving into a tender smile. They’re going to be beautiful. Just like their mother.”

Half an hour later, the sharp pain returned, stronger than before. I gripped the side of the bed, trying not to scream. My teeth sank into my lip, my body trembling.

Raven?Derick’s voice was urgent. He saw the way my body stiffened, the way my knuckles turned white against the bed frame. Without asking questions, he jumped to his feet and rushed out of the room.

Within minutes, the door burst open again, and Derick returned with a female doctor and two nurses. The doctor came to my side quickly, examining me with practiced hands. Her voice was calm but firm. It’s time.

The babies are ready to come out.

My heart raced. The words both scared me and filled me with hope.

Alright, Reven, the doctor urged gently. I need you to listen to me and push when I tell you. Just a little harder, okay?

I nodded weakly, sweat already covering my forehead. The pain ripped through me like waves of fire. I pushed once, twice, but I didn’t have much strength. My head fell back against the pillow, tears sliding down my cheeks.

I can’t,I gasped between the pains. I can’t do it.”

Derick was by my side instantly, his hands holding mine tightly. His voice was firm but filled with love. Yes, you can, Reven. You’ve waited so long for this moment.

Think about it the babies, their little faces, waiting to see you. You can do it. Just a little more.”

I looked at him through blurred eyes. Even in the middle of my pain, his words gave me strength. My wolf whispered inside me, He always knows how to cheer you up.

With that thought, I gathered all the energy left in me and pushed again. My scream echoed through the room, but this time, it brought results.

After a few minutes, I heard it. A cry. A high, beautiful cry that filled the room.

The first one is out!the doctor announced.
