Chapter 26
Raven’s POV
“Raven, the Head Maid, someone called, snapping me out of my thoughts.
Hooked up from the silverware I had been polishing, aheady knowing what this was about
“The Luna requests your presence,” the maid said, her eyes apologetic.
Esighed heavily and stood up, brushing my apron smooth. “Did she given any reason?”
“She just said you need to help her prepare for the panty.”
I nodded and handed the cloth to another said. My stomach twisted with anxiety. I was tired–no, exhausted–but that wasn’t the issue. Facing Olivia just hours before the party was something I wanted to avoid at all costs. As her personal maid, I had no choice. She wore the title of Luna well, at least on the outside. Inside? She was as cold and calculating as ever,
We walked in silence through the winding halls of the pack house
e until we reached the double doors of the Luna’s chamber. The maid gave me a small nod before slipping away. I took a breath before knocking lightly.
“Come in, came Olivia’s voice, sharp and commanding
I stepped inside, the scent of her expensive perfumes already filling the air. Her dressing room looked like it had been ransacked–gowns hung over chairs, jewelry boxes lay open, and shoes were scattered across the plush carpet.
“There you are,“she said, not bothering to turn around. She stood before her full–length mirror, wrapped in a silk robe, her blonde curls pinned back lazily. “Took you long enough.”
“I came as soon as i was called,” I replied, keeping my tone as neutral as possible.
Her eyes met mine in the mirror, and I could see the familiar flicker of disdain in them. “expect you to be quicker next time. Tonight is important, and can’t be late because of your sluggishness.”
I said nothing. It wasn’t worth arguing.
She turned and gestured toward the gowns laid out on the bed. “Help me choose. I can’t decide between the midnight blue or the emerald green.”
Both dresses were gorgeous. The blue was sleek and elegant, clinging to the curves with long sleeves and a high neckline adorned with silver embroidery. The green was bolder, with an open back, off–shoulder sleeves, and a gold–trimmed hem,
“The blue would match the Alpha’s suit,” I said after a moment, lifting it gently off the bed.
Olivia looked thoughtful, then smirked. “Wes. I suppose you would notice that, Always paying close attention to my mate, aren’t you?”
I scoffed at her words she was the one who took him, but I was too tired for that now just want to do my job and leave, and I forced myself not to react. held the gown out, and she finally nodded.
“Fine. Let’s go
po with the blue
I helped her slip out of her robe and into the dress, careful not to let the fabric wrinkle or snag. Her body was tense, her movements impatient
“You’re pulling too tight,” she snapped as I zipped the back
“It needs to be snug so it fits property,” I murmured.
She gave a soft scoff, then turned toward the mirror, smoothing the fabric over her hips. “Jewelry nest. Lay them all out.

Chapter 26
I walked to her armoire and opened the drawers, libing velvet cases and opening them to reveal necklaces, earrings, and bracelets that gleamed under the room’s golden lighting, Farranged thems carefully on the vanity table.
“Not that one,” she said as I picked up a sapphire necklace. “Il makes my neck look short.”
I swapped it for a silver chain with a diamond teardrop
“Too plain”
Gold choker?
“Too heavy”
I bit the inside of my cheek. “What about the pearl set with the matching earrings?”
She looked, tilted her head, then finally nodded. “Acceptable”
fastened the necklace around her throat, my fingers brushing her skin, cold and smooth, I clipped the earrings in place and stepped back
“There,” I said softly
Olivia stood and admired herself in the mirror for a long moment. “Tix my hair,” she said finally.
I moved to her vanity, took out the pins, and began reshaping her curls, brushing gently and re–pinning each lock in an elegant updo. Every few minutes, she would flinch or sigh dramatically.
“You’re tugging again.”
“I’m being gentle.” and you know that
“You always say that. Maybe your idea of gentle is just wrong.”
And your own idea of a mate is also wrong I could see her facial expression changed, but she didn’t say anything.
I simply continued, plece by piece, until it was perfect.
When I was finished, I sat the brush down. “Would you like your makeup done as well?”
“Obviously.”
Would you want me to go there looking like you, she asked mockly but I didn’t reply her
I applied the foundation and highlighter, brushing soft strokes of blush onto her cheeks? Then came the eyeliner, eyeshadow, and her favorite wine–red lipstick. She watched my every movement in the mirror, scrutinizing each detail.
“My left eye
looks darker than the right.”
I leaned in and adjusted the shade. “Better?”
