Chapter 76

Chapter 76

Raven’s POV

We drove for a few more hours before activing at a tall building Judging by its size and leury, it could only belong to a very strong pack structure stood proud against the lading evening sky, its walls glimmering faintly at the sun dipped below the horizon. Elegant lighting along the path cat so glows on the driveway, and tall guards stood by the entrance, dressed in black suits, eyes sharp and alert.

I stepped out of the cai, trying to take in the grandeur. It was nothing like home. This place smelled of power, of dominance, of secrets whispered behind polished doors

Beta Matthew came to my side, helping the with my long gown. You look nervous,he said with a small grin

I managed a weak smile, This isoverwhelming.

From the other side, Elsa joined us, excitedly clapping her hands, Come on! This place is amazing! I’ve heard the ballrooms here are like something out of airy tale

I helped her with her small clutch bag, and we made our way inside. As soon as the giant doors opened, a wave of elegance and music hit us. The ballroom was massive. Crystals hung from the ceilings, catching the lights and reflecting them like tiny stars. Men in dark suits and women in flowing gowns twirled gracefully across the dance floor, their laughter blending with the soft classical music echoing from the orchestra.

After being checked in and marked discreetly with a faint glowing symbol on our wrists which I later learned was to identity guests from each packwe entered fully Elisa, her face glowing with excitement, spotted someone she knew and waved before heading off, leaving Beta Matthew and me together.

We wandered around until we found an empty table near the far end of the hall, it gave us a decent view of the dance floor and was secluded enough to chat privately. We sat, and soon a server brought us drinks

I held mine gently, letting the glass cool my palm. I didn’t plan on drinking too much. I wanted to stay aware. My original plan had been to use this night as an escape to get drunk, forget everything. But now that I was here, seated among these powerful wolves, I realized how dangerous that would be.

Beta Matthew took a sip of his and smiled. You look nice tonight, Raven

I turned to him, smiling softly. Thank you, Matthew. You clean up will, too.

He chuckled, then leaned back in his chair, relaxing in a way I rarely saw It’s been a long time since I attended one of these. I usually hate them. But this oneisn’t bad.

We talked About everything and nothing. He joked. I laughed. It felt good to laugh again. To forget, even for a moment, who I was and all that I had been through.

Just when I was beginning to feel at ease, someone called out his name. A tall man in a black suit with golden cuff links gestured at him from across the

room

I’ll be right back,Matthew said as he stood. Don’t go anywhere.

I nodded, watching as he disappeared into the crowd.

Alone now.

now, I looked down at my untouched glass. After a moment, I waved over the server. Another drink, please.

The server brought a fresh glass, and I slowly took a sip. The taste was slightly off. Sweeter, with a strange bitterness that lingered on the tigue. But i shrugged it off. Maybe it was just a different wind

Then a shadow loomed near the table.

Mind if I join you?a deep voice asked.

Hooked up and saw a manmidthirties, tall, broadshouldered, with piercing blue eyes and an easy smile. His suit fit him too perfectly, and the

confidence in his pasture sel me instantly on edge.

I’m waiting for someone,I replied calmly.

He smirked, settling into the seal across from me anyway. Just keeping you company. Couldn’t help but notice how

give a polite smile gripping my glass a little tighter.

Seriously,he said, his eyes running over me slowly. I didn’t think the Heath Pack sent beauties like you. Lucky guy, whoever you came with

did come with someone,I said sharply.

Must not be that important if he left you alone.

I shifted uncomfortably. He’ll be back soon.

The man laughed, unconvinced. A few more minutes passed before, thankfully, he finally stood and left I sighed and took another long sip from my drink

That’s when the world started to shift.

The music in the ballroom began to stretch unnaturally, like it was being played through a tunnel. My fingers felt tingly, then rumb. My heartbeat quickened, and the colors around me became too brighttoo loud. The laughter of others sounded distorted. My chest tightened as a strange beat surged through me.

Something was wrong

I blinked rapidly, trying to shake the feeling. My breathing grew shallow. My skin prickled all over, and my thighs squeezed together involuntarily as a foreign warmth flooded my lower body.

Raven?

I turned clumsily toward the voice. Beta Matthew was standing there, brows furrowed, concern written across his face. I opened my mouth to respond, but the words tangled up and fell away,

I don’tfeel good.

He was beside me instantly, helping me to my feet. Did you drink something else?

I don’tknow. It tasted weird. I thought

His grip tightened around my waist as my legs buckled. Come on, let’s get you out of here.

I barely remembered how we made it outside, but I was suddenly aware of being in the car, slumped against the seat, panting. My skin felt like fire, and the heat inside me had morphed into something unbearable. Desire. Burning, maddening desire.

Ishifted uncomfortably, trying to relieve the pressure building between my thighs. It was humiliating. I felt out of control.

MatthewI whispered, gripping his arm. What’s happening to me?

You’ve been drugged,he said, jaw clenched. Some kind of heat serum. It’s common in black markets. It’s used to arcuse, confusemanipulate.

His voice was calm, but I saw the rage in his eyes!

I’m going to kill whoever did this

I moaned softly, my head lolling back. My body wasn’t listening to me. I wantedneededtouch. I hated it. I hated whoever had done the moment, all I could feel was want.

Chapter 76

When we arrived at the guest quarters, he carried me in. I tried to walk, but my legs were jolly

He gently laid me on the bed. You’ll be okay, Raven, Just rest, stay until it

He turned to leave, but i reached out and grabbed his arm. Don’t go.. please

Itugged harder, and with a startled stumble, he lost balance and fell on top of me

His eyes widened as he caught himself with his hands, hovering above me, his face inches from mine. Our breaths mingled. I could see the struggle in his gazethe conflict, the restraint,

Ravendon’t. You’re not thinking clearly.

But I didn’t care. I wanted to feel safe. I wanted to forget. I wrapped my arms around him, pressing my lips to his jaw

And then-

BANG!

The door flow open with a loud crash
