I steed frozen in my spot as I faced Alpha Ethan, I couldn’t it my head, but I could feel his rage crackling around us like fine licking at dry grass. The right air felt suffocating, but wasn’t the cold, it was him.

My lips moved, but still, I had no words that would make sense to him. Nothing I could say would make him believe me. Not in this moment.

Chapter 97.

He ignored me.

Moments later, the sound of approaching footsteps echoed in the corridor. My heart sank further with every beat. Two guards appeared behind him, that expressions unreadable.

“Take her,” he ordered, stepping away from me. “Lock her in the cell. No food. No water. I’ll deal with her tomorrow.”

The guards hesitated, clearly unsure,

“Now!” he barked, making them jump into action.

I was frozen again, staring at him like he was a stranger no, like he was a monster. This wasn’t the man I had once thought had pieces of good left in him This wasn’t even the Alpha I loved. This was something darker.

One guard gripped my arm. I didn’t resist at first, I was too numb. But as they pulled me toward the hallway, my feet dragged, my voice finally breaking

I stopped walking. The guards looked at each other nervously.

He turned around slowly, his face unreadable. For a second, just a second I thought I saw something flicker in his eyes. Regret? Pain?

“Take her away,” he said, then turned and walked off without another word.

The walk to the underground cell was long, and cold, and silent except for the dull thud of my footsteps and the pounding of my heart.

I didn’t cry until they threw me inside.

The cell door slammed shut, the echo of the metal locking into place ringing in my ears like a death sentence. The stone walls around me felt tighter than ever, the air stale and thick with despair,
