Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 151

Of course, in the end, Sebastian didn't let Roxanne leave.

They were staying in a lavish estate that was heavily guarded. After what had happened last time, Sebastian had hired two female bodyguards specifically to watch over Roxanne. They followed her everywhere, never letting her out of their sight.

Maybe it was because she had already experienced what it felt like to be held captive, but she adjusted surprisingly well. She spent her time strolling through the garden and watering flowers. She had come to a realization that Sebastian was prideful, obsessive, and used to getting his way.

Unless he chose to let go, he'd always see her as something that belonged to him.

And after everything that had happened, she understood something else too—running away wasn't going to solve anything. If she wanted to fix this, she had to deal with Sebastian first.

She already had two plans in mind. One way or another, she'd break free of him. She silently cheered herself on. "Don't rush. Don't panic. Stay calm and focused."

As for Sebastian, when it came to feelings he didn't know how to face, his go-to move was avoidance. So now, even though they were living in the same place, they never saw each other.

Well… he could still see her, like now.

He stood at the second-floor window, watching her casually watering the flowers down in the garden. Her smooth and pale skin glowed in the sunlight. She was beautiful. He had known it from the first moment he saw her.

His gaze was dark and deep, filled with emotion as he looked at her figure below. He knew he had serious issues. The first time Roxanne confessed her feelings to him, he hadn't taken it seriously.

She was 18 then. For the next two years, she cared for him and loved him in every way she could.

So, he never looked into it. In fact, he had even welcomed it, assuming she felt the same. It never occurred to him that she wasn't the one who did it.

Later on, she still loved him wholeheartedly, and everyone knew it.

Back then, he just liked the feeling of being loved and the warmth she brought into his life. He never seriously thought about a future with her. He was a cold, rational man. To him, their relationship was just mutually beneficial. When the time was right, he'd break up with her and give her a generous payoff.

If he was being honest, he had always looked down on her background. She was never going to be his wife. So, when did everything start to change?

It was the moment she threw herself in front of him and took that knife.
