"What do you call me?"
Sebastian narrowed his eyes.
Roxanne poked his chest with her finger, and her eyes were full of mockery.
"Since the day we met, you've always called me Roxanne, haven't you?"
That was true.
She let out a cold laugh, and her eyes were tinged with sarcasm. "But you always call Liana so intimately."
Sebastian froze. In that brief moment of hesitation, his arm loosened from around her waist.
She seized the chance. With a swift, graceful twist, she slipped out of his arms and stepped away. She patted off the spot on her body where he had held her like she couldn't stand even the memory of his touch.
Her tone was flat as she said, "Sebastian, don't be such a hypocrite. To me, you're just Sebastian. That's it."
She had once called him by many names—Seb, my dearest Sebastian…
But he never cared. The only one he ever tolerated was "Sebastian".
Sebastian took a step forward like he was about to say something, but she immediately raised a hand to stop him. She backed up three full steps, putting space between them again.
"Sebastian, you used to treat me with so much coldness and indifference. Please keep it that way. Don't bother explaining, and don't try to justify anything. I don't want to hear it, I don't care, and I'm not interested.
"And for the record, your attitude is fine. The way you handled things is fine too. If there's a problem, just calm down and think about it. Given enough time, it'll solve itself."
As soon as she was done, she backed away ten more steps, then turned around and bolted. She ran like he was some kind of monster she had to get as far away from as possible.
He took a step forward, but she was already gone. He could only watch as she disappeared inside the house and flew up the stairs.
His hand, halfway outstretched to stop her, hung frozen in the air. It felt like someone had stabbed a blade straight into his chest. He didn't know how to handle relationships.
When something went wrong, all he ever did was run away. But this time, he wanted to fix it. He wanted to sit down and actually talk to her. Yet Roxanne avoided him like he was poison.
Nicholas froze. He thought Sebastian had gone on a business trip to Hyvaland. It turned out that the whole trip was just to find Roxanne. And he actually found her?
That poor woman…
Nicholas sighed and shook his head.
Then, he said gently, "Sebastian, this isn't for you. You're not cut out for love. Roxanne is a good woman. Let her go."
The last time he brought Sebastian to see Jimmy, they had talked in detail about his situation.
Jimmy had made it crystal clear that Sebastian lacked the emotional capacity to love. In other words, if someone were to be with him, they could have everything except love. Because that just wasn't something he could give.
And that was why Roxanne had been left so broken over these past seven years.
Sebastian's eyes suddenly filled with rage. His voice was wild, manic, and full of obsession. "No! I won't let her go!"
