Kate had no real affection for Sebastian. She did want to make it up to Sebastian now, but it had nothing to do with maternal love—it was all about money and reputation.
Sebastian had a lot of money, and the title of being his mother could bring her plenty of fame and status. It was only then she suddenly realized how important he was.
Unfortunately, whatever little mother-son bond they once had had been completely exhausted back when he was a child. She had even been laughably complicit in the one incident that nearly cost him his life when he was kidnapped as a child and faced deadly danger.
It was Kate who had given the kidnappers information about Sebastian. That was how they knew where and when to grab him. And she had done it all so that Brandon would panic, worry, and come running back home from his mistress to her side.
It was absolutely outrageous.
Sebastian's expression darkened. "Get out, or I'll cut off your living expenses next month," he said icily.
Sebastian didn't want to have any further entanglements with Kate, so he gave her a monthly allowance of a million dollars. She rarely showed up unless she was out of money. And every time she showed up too often, he would threaten to stop her allowance.
At first, she didn't believe him. After all, he was her son. Could he really abandon her like that?
Until one day, he really did cut her off. Furious, she accused him of being a bad son. Sure, she had done wrong by him and had made mistakes in the past. But she was still his mother.
