Mending a Broken Love (Roxanne and Sebastian) novel Chapter 62

Sebastian returned quickly. As soon as he stepped inside, he asked, "Did Nathaniel message you again?"

"No."

Roxanne handed him her phone.

After Nathaniel sent her the photo, she followed up with several messages, but he never replied. She had even tried calling. There was a record of the attempts, but they had all gone unanswered.

Roxanne looked at Sebastian with concern. "Did you check? Do you know where Nathaniel is?"

Sebastian's handsome face remained expressionless, and he was silent. It was clear that he had checked, but Nathaniel was hiding well. They couldn't find him.

Roxanne looked at Sebastian, unsure of what to say.

Honestly, she couldn't understand why Nathaniel would abduct Liana. She refused to believe he would do it to threaten her. That didn't make any sense.

Given her relationship with Liana, she would probably encourage the kidnapper to go ahead and finish the job. Besides, from the look in Nathaniel's eyes, he seemed like a man cornered.

She asked Sebastian curiously, "Did you do something to Nathaniel?"

Sebastian's gaze fell on her. It was calm and steady, but something about it made her uncomfortable.

"You didn't go after Nathaniel just because of me, did you? Please don't! Really, don't! Don't end up pinning Liana's kidnapping on me. I didn't do anything, and I didn't ask you to do anything either."

Roxanne was about to lose it. Why was she somehow getting dragged into this?

She hadn't done anything, and she definitely hadn't told Sebastian to do anything either.

Sebastian looked at her, at how desperately she wanted to wash her hands of the situation. He sighed helplessly.

"You said I haven't sent you anything these past two years. Actually, I have. I had Nathaniel deliver gifts to you on every holiday."

Roxanne understood instantly—Nathaniel had been pocketing those gifts. And now that Sebastian was holding him accountable, he couldn't cover the gap.

He fell silent for a long moment, the weight of everything pressing down on him.

"It's my fault."

Roxanne instantly jumped in, saying, "Exactly! Liana getting abducted is your fault. It has nothing to do with me, so don't you dare try to pin it on me later."

Of course, Roxanna was going to distance herself from this. Sebastian cared so much about Liana. If Nathaniel, that lunatic, got pushed too far and actually hurt her, what if Sebastian decided to blame her? This whole mess was Sebastian's doing!

He had so much money, so why push Nathaniel like that?

Well, now look—Liana was abducted!

Sebastian looked at her, and his chest felt tight like something was clogging it. It was stifling and bitter.

In a low voice, he said to her, "This has nothing to do with you. Don't worry. Go get some sleep."
