"What secrets could she possibly have?" Oliver scoffed, clearly uninterested. He never really paid attention to Lena and knew nothing about her affairs.
Oliver’s genuine confusion convinced Josefina that he really was clueless about the Harrison family's troubles and had no connection to Lena.
"I found something fishy about Lena; she’s in cahoots with some outsiders, and I suspect they're plotting to take over the Harrison estate. When I got back to the family mansion, I found out my parents had been poisoned, along with others. Even worse, my grandmother was in a coma from a fall down the stairs. The mansion has an elevator, which the elderly usually prefer. I even asked my grandfather if grandma ever used the stairs, and he said her mobility issues always had her opting for the elevator."
Josefina's revelations caught Oliver’s attention.
"Based on your suspicions, Lena is definitely a prime suspect. She must have known for quite some time that she’s part of the Harrison clan."
"Oliver, if they knew I was a Harrison, why didn’t they just finish me off?" Josefina wondered aloud.
Lena must have known her own heritage, and her collaborators would too. Could it be that the baby swap all those years ago was orchestrated by these very people?
The thought was chilling.
Oliver realized the gravity of the situation and took Josefina's hand, noticing how cold it was. "Josie, don’t be scared."
Feeling reassured, Josefina looked up at Oliver and managed a faint smile. "I just can't believe someone would scheme against us from the moment I was born, changing our lives completely."
"It’s also possible they didn’t know at first. Maybe they stumbled upon the identity mix-up by accident, then approached Lena to execute their plan," Oliver mused.
"You might be right, Oliver. That makes a lot of sense!"
Clearly, Lena was the key to unraveling this mystery.
"I’ll have someone check the bar’s surveillance footage. Lena’s nighttime visits could be her meeting with her accomplices."
Oliver held her hand reassuringly. "Don’t worry, I’ll have my contacts look into it and get back to you."
