Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 402

Oliver was beyond annoyed. Every question Shay threw at him was just another opportunity for humiliation.

With his gaze lowered and a tender look in his eyes, he turned to the blushing Josefina and said, "Let's get out of here."

He wrapped Josefina in his arms, holding her close as they made their exit. Shay watched them go, the pair inseparable, clinging to each other as if they couldn't stand to be apart.

And what about her? What was she in this picture? Just a jester? Her eyes filled with a desolate mixture of envy and resentment.

With a lonely twist of her body, Shay turned and slowly walked back the way she had come.

Meanwhile, safely ensconced in the privacy of their booth, Lena let out a sigh of relief. "They're gone."

In the shadowy room, a man's voice, dripping with mockery, broke the silence. "Who would've thought, Shay has a thing for Oliver."

"How did you know?" Lena asked.

"Are you braindead, Lena? It couldn't be more obvious. How can you not see it?"

The man's smirk was almost audible in the darkness, and even though his face was obscured, the chill emanating from him was palpable.

"Lena, what Josefina has achieved, neither you nor Shay could manage. How does that make you feel? I've invested in you, and what do I get? A failure?"

His tone suddenly turned icy, sending shivers down Lena's spine as she sat there, too afraid to make a sound.

After a long pause, Lena spoke up, her voice tinged with defiance. "Oliver's just smitten with Josefina because of her talents. With her multiple identities at play, she's bound to catch his eye."

The man laughed with disdain. "And what about you? Carrying the name of the Harrison family and yet you couldn't snatch Oliver's heart. Do you really have the nerve to argue?"

Lena didn't dare to respond, fearing for her life.

The man let out a long sigh. "What a shame, I didn't spot Josefina's potential earlier. If only she were working for me, that would've been something."
