"Follow the secretary's lead for now," Dorian said, his voice casual but firm. "Your daily tasks will be set by their schedule."

Hearing this, Dorian felt a sudden pang of realization. It struck him that her past efforts were likely just a way to kill time. The real meaty tasks—the crucial stuff—they'd never land in her lap. But if she didn't show up, she'd just be lounging at home, her position in the family shaky at best.

Without much further thought, Lena agreed. "Thanks, Dorian. I swear, I'll give it my all!" Lena beamed, sidling up next to Dorian to butter him up.

Josefina, with a bag of snacks in tow, retreated to her room, slipped into some comfy loungewear, and then made her way to Grandpa Robert's. Grandpa, in the midst of his dinner, lit up at the sight of her.

"Josie, you're back from the shindig. All tuckered out? In the future, if you're not up for these tedious events, just skip 'em," he advised warmly.

Josefina took a seat, smiling. "I'm not tired, Grandpa. I only went to help our employees network a bit. Once I'm back at school, we'll need trusty folks to keep the company shipshape."

Grandpa Robert nodded in approval. "Josie, you've got the makings of a fine businesswoman."

He continued, "Those pills you gave me, they've really done wonders. I’m sleeping like a log, and I feel stronger, too. I’ve been doing my daily exercises, feeling more limber by the day."

"Grandpa, I actually came to bring you more of that medicine. Keep taking it with water each day, and give one to Grandma, too. It's good for her, might speed up her recovery."

"Your grandma opened her eyes today, Josie. Only for five minutes, but it's a step in the right direction. She's improving every day, and I'm certain she'll wake up before we know it," Grandpa Robert said, his voice tinged with relief. "All thanks to you, my girl."

"Grandpa, helping Grandma is what family does. I'm waiting on one more ingredient from my mentor, and once we have it, Grandma should fully come around."

"You're a blessing, Josie."
