It might not be a big brand, but it's supposed to be delicious. I went out of my way to get one for you. Give it a try, see if it lives up to the hype."

Hattie jumped in, "Why didn't you buy it during the day? What if Josie doesn’t want cake at night? Girls like to watch their figure, Garrett. Look at the mess you've made."

Garrett looked stunned. He had completely overlooked that. His good intentions had clearly backfired.

"What should we do now... Maybe we can just keep the cake in the fridge and let Josie have it tomorrow."

Hattie snapped back, "You think my Josie will eat day-old cake?"

Garrett felt like crying but had no tears to shed. No matter what he did, it seemed wrong.

"Alright, alright, I'll eat it, okay? I got carried away with the fridge idea. I didn't mean to save old cake for Josie."

Josefina stood in the doorway, her lips curling into a genuine smile.

She walked in, laughing, "It's okay, I can have a little bit tonight."

Garrett felt even more embarrassed. "Sweetheart, I came to apologize. It’s all my fault for sending Remus to your company and causing all this trouble. I’m sorry, dear. It’s my mistake."

Hattie added, "And you have the nerve to mention it. If it weren’t for our Josie's keen eye spotting something off about Remus right away, the company would have been in chaos. Thankfully, my precious Josie got back early. Garrett, look at the mess you've made."
