Miss Josefina: Nobody's Princess novel Chapter 440

Marina was practically buzzing with excitement. If Teddy was behind this, she had the perfect leverage to put him and his mother, the formidable Eleanor Winchester, in their place!

Xavier watched Marina's face twist with schemes, left speechless by her expression.

"Xavier, why so quiet?" Marina nudged.

His face was pale, his voice barely a whisper. "Mom, are you actually worried about me, or are you just using my attack to get back at Landon?"

Marina's frown deepened. "If it helps us take Landon down a notch, isn't that a win? If he suffers, you benefit too, right?"

Xavier sighed. "My injury has nothing to do with Landon. I believe it's either Josefina or Orla behind it."

"And here I thought you and Orla were as thick as thieves. Why would she want to hurt you?"

Xavier recounted the events to Marina, leaving her utterly stunned.

"What do you mean Josefina is Orla's boss? That can't be! Josefina runs a small-time operation," Marina said, incredulous.

Xavier, still weak, explained, "When I went to see Orla, Josefina was sitting at her desk. As soon as Orla walked in, she called her 'Ms. Josefina' and treated her with such reverence, like a subordinate to a superior. As far as I know, Orla is an orphan and the public face of Anya. And her design skills? They're nothing special."

Marina scowled, taken aback by Josefina's influence.

"I always said Josefina was a cut above Ruby. You never see what's right in front of you, always too eager to gobble up anything that comes your way. With Josefina and Ruby at odds, and given your ties to Ruby, Josefina would never approve of you. Xavier, oh Xavier, look at the mess you've created!"

Too weak to argue, Xavier remained silent.
