After a hectic day at work, Josefina finally clocked out at six. She grabbed her car keys and started driving toward the hospital. Percy had called her in to consult on a particularly tricky patient's condition.
With her Bluetooth earpiece snugly in place, Josefina answered a call from Oliver.
"Hey Josie, how about dinner tonight?" he asked.
"Can't tonight, Oliver. I'm heading to the hospital. Percy needs my input on a patient," she replied, weaving through the evening traffic.
"I'll wait for you at the hospital then. We can grab a bite afterward," Oliver suggested.
"Look, it's going to be late. You go ahead and have dinner," Josefina said, trying to focus on both the conversation and the road.
"Josie, any dinner without you is too early for me," Oliver insisted warmly, bringing a smile to her face.
"Alright, you win. Pick up some burgers and wait for me outside the hospital. I could go for a burger tonight."
"Deal, I'll be waiting."
They set a time, and Josefina pulled into the hospital parking lot. She had barely walked through the doors when an overhead announcement caught her attention: "Emergency in the new clinic wing, Hall 1, code 999."
Her expression darkened, and she sprinted to Hall 1 where a young man lay on the ground, his complexion a worrying shade of blue.
The best of the hospital's staff had converged in Hall 1, ready to wrestle with the reaper for the patient's life. Percy was among them. Josefina was the fastest to react, already administering CPR by the time the rest caught up.
"Percy, the epinephrine!" she called out without missing a beat.
Percy quickly placed the medical kit beside her and handed over the vial. "Epinephrine!"
She took it and continued her lifesaving efforts. "Get a gurney! We need to move him to the ER, stat!"
