At 9:30 PM, Joseph was in the living room playing video games. When he heard a rar engine in the villa’s courtyard, he quickly set dolen the pama controller and stood up
He thought, ‘It’s the first i

He puffed out his little chest, waiting for Edith to walk through the door instead, Hallie walked in.
His disappointment was evident as he turned and plopped back down on the sofs, grabbing the game controller to continue playing. This attitude almost made Hallie explode with anger. She thought, “That little brat has barely been hack, and Joseph has already switched sides.
I told Mam not to put too much stock in Joseph. She said he’s still young and that if we treat him well, he’ll definitely side with us.
‘But now, Edith hasn’t even done anything, and this kid is already openly opposing us. Truly a wolf raised in the house!
Hallie walked in and said softly, “Joseph, why didn’t you say hi when you saw me?”
Joseph pulled at the corner of his mouth. “Hi, Halle.
He had spent the most time with Hallie, and although he didn’t particularly like her, greeting her was something he was used to, so it wasn’t hard to say
Hallie sat down next to him and sighed dramatically. “There’s something I don’t know if I should tell you.”
Joseph replied casually, “Then don’t say it.”
ang. She took a deep breath and said, “There e was a theft at Sunspire High School today. It might have been Edich.”
Hallie felt a sharp pang
“What did you say?” Joseph finally stopped playing his game. “Are you saying Edith stole something from Sunspine High School?”
“She has her reasons,” Hallie said, looking guilty. “She just got to Sunspire and has no pocket money, and she couldn’t bear to ask Mom for any, so th made such a huge mistake.
“I should have noticed it sooner. I should have asked Mom and Dad to give her some spending money. It’s all my fault.”
“That’s impossible,” Joseph coldly interrupted her. “Edith would never steal anything”
Just as Edith stepped into the villa, she heard that line. Then, the familiar sound of the system echoed in her mind. (Ding! The host has gained unconditional trust from family members Reward one elementary Engloria storybook.
Edith smiled slightly. She began to understand the system’s pattern as long as her brothers truly cared for her, the rewards from the system would likely be related to thom.
She stepped inside, her icy gaan landing on Hallie’s face. “Instead of gossiping behind my back, you’d be better off practicing your plano so you don’t embarrass yourself during the performance.”
Halle clenched her teeth, thinking. That little brat is joining the performance on Thursday just to cause trouble. She must want to humillate me in front. of all my classmates?
She had completely forgotten that it was she and Noreen who had pressured Edith to participate in the first place.
“Joseph, come upstairs with me,” Edith said calmly. Joseph immediately turned off his game console and followed her to the third floor.
“What did Hallic mean by what she said earlie/? Joseph asked, quickly adding, “It’s not that I don’t trust you. I’m just worried she might badmouth you –
to Dad.”
Edith chuckled and ruffled his hair. “This isn’t something a grade–schooler should worry about”

She extended her hand. “Is your homework done?
Joseph’s attention was instantly diverted. He ran in his room, grabbed his homework, and proudly handed it over i finished it right af

she reached behind and pulled out the Engloria storybook the system had rewarded her with “You’ve been doing well lately. Here’s a gift for you. Ro

Joseph’s face turned green when he saw it was an Engloria book. He hated Engloria, meniring vocabulary was such a pain. He thought, ‘CanFrause
this?”
But Edith had already returned to her room, leaving him holding the storybook. He tossed it onto his desk, thinking, Well, if she didn’t say have to d it, maybe I can use it to prop up my desk.”
Just as he was about to flop onto his bed and resume his game, he froze.
The cover of the Engloria storybook was about outer space, adorned with pictures of astronauts and aliens. It looked surprisingly interesting. Joseph, almost against his will, picked up the book and opened it to the first page.
He didn’t know many Engloria words and planned just to look at the pictures. The first page featured a photograph of the moon with a red flag. Aber looking at the pictures, he decided to read the line of text and, miraculously, understood it.
Excitedly, he flipped to the second page, which showed astronauts floating in space, accompanied by a sentence in Engloria that he also understood
Before he knew it, he had gone through all thirty–odd pages of the book, When he finished, he wanted more.
The book had been fascinating, and more importantly, he could understand the Englaris sentences just by looking at the pictures. It was an exhilarating feeling. Now he was curious if there were more books in this series.
While Joseph was engrossed in his book, Edith was seated at her computer, fiercely delving into hacking knowledge.
She’d figured out the system’s pattern whenever she ventured into a new area and acquired basic knowledge, the system would likely reward her with a beginner’s skill in that domain.
She downloaded a bunch of online hacking courses, absorbing theoretical knowledge like a sponge, and then tried to transform theory into practice [Ding! Host has independently completed basic hacking attack code; reward: Beginner Hacker Skills.
Edith smirked–she’d done it. With the system–boosted skills, she found hacking theories amazingly simple now
Her fingers danced across the keyboard, lines of code pouring out like a cascade from her fingertips. In less than ten minutes, she infiltrated the surveillance system at Sunsple High School.
The footage from 1:30 to 3:30 PM was blank. If the content had been deleted manually, her beginner hacker skills could restore it.

Edith’s fingers flew over the keyboard. She lost track of time until she heard the familiar sound in her mind [Ding! Host has independently infiltrated the city’s transportation network system, reward; Intermediate Hacker Skills.
