Chapter 58
Early mo
morning, the sun was gentle and warm. The theft incident at the music hall was spreading like wild at Sunspire High School, getting or
intense by the minute,
“I heard Edith from Class One stole all the pianos from the music hall, they’re worth about $150,000
“With that much money involved, she could go to jail. Why didn’t the school call the police
“Our school is a top–ranked one in the province. If a student turns out to be a thiet, who would want to send their kids here?”
“It’s mainly because the Lovett family is rich. The school doesn’t want to offend them, so they kept it quiet,”
“The school didn’t even conclude anything officially, yet you’re all convinced Edith stole the pianos?” Noreen appeared in the crowd and spoke coldly, “If you’re all so good at judging, why don’t you become judges?”
Everyone knew Noreen’s personality, so no one dared to confront her directly. Soon enough, the gossiping crowd dispersed from the school gate.
Noreen glanced at Edith approaching and said coldly, “An eye for an eye. I don’t owe you anything now” With that, she turned and walked back to the
classroom.
Edith smirked, thinking, “I didn’t need your help anyway.
She actually hoped this incident would blow up, get to higher authorities, and involve the police. When it reached a point of no return, someone would have to face the consequences.
Back in the classroom, hardly had she sat
at down when Cathy approached with a worried look on her lace. “How is your family planning to handle this?”
If this had happened to Cathy, she probably wouldn’t have dared to come to school.
Edith replied calmly, “I’m going to check out a place during lunch today”
Seeing her so confident, Cathy breathed a sigh of relief but couldn’t help feeling pang of pity.
Cathy’s parents ran a small business, their family wasn’t wealthy, but they would rush to resolve any such issue for her. Yet here was Edith, the daughter of the Lovett family, having to take time out to solve it hersel

Edith was shocked internally. “Who sympathized with me? What do I have to be pitied for? And what the heck is “Eye Moisture?”
She turned her head to look at her tablemate, Cathy.
Cathy looked up and met Edith’s gaze. Her eyes were glistening, like they were filled with tears that could spill out at any moment. She had known Edith for a little over a week, and every time she saw her, Edith had always exuded such a powerful aura, like a leadi
But now, that furmidable leader was looking at her with these bright, puppy–dog eyes, looking utterly pitiful and abandoned.
“I’ll go with you at lunch, Cathy said, gripping Edith’s hand. “Don’t worry, I’ll stay with you the whole time.”
Edith was speechless, thinking, ‘Can I return this reward? I don’t want people looking at me like I’m weak.”
Before she could refuse Cathy’s kind offer, the school bell rang. The morning classis passed by in a flash.
After lunch, Edith and Cathy went to the music hall together. The back gate, which led to an alley, had been closed for years and required a keycard to
open.

Outside the gate was a long alley, shout & feet wide, just enough for a vehicle to pass through. Tire tracks were clearly visit on the ground.
It wouldn’t be a difficult case for the police if they were involved, Hallie hat banked on the school not calling them, hence her daring plan.
Cathy usually rode a bike to school, and today Edils had borrowed it
Edith rode, with Cathy fitting on the back seat. They passed through the alleyway behind the gate and cnts the busting streets, slowly making their way to the outskirts of Sunspire.
“Edith, what a
care we doing here?” Cathy asked, looking bewildered at the endoven warehouse in front of them.
Edith tossed her bike into the bushes to hide it and replied softly. “If sight, the plans should have been brought here.”
Last night, she had reviewed all the surveillance footage from the street and finally pinpointed a white truck.
This truck had come out of the alley, traveled along the main roar, and parked at this factory for the night. Since the truck was 16ll there, the punos probably hadn’t been moved yet.
Edith crept forward quietly toward the factory, with Cathy hurrying to keep up.
The two of them crouched low as they got closer, pooring around the wall just in time to see four pianos stacked inside the warehouse
“On my gosh! They’re really here,” Cathy exclaimed, her eyes wide. “Edith, you’re so clever.”
Edith made a shushing gesture. “Don’t alert the enemy, let’s take some | pictures first. She pulled out her phone and snapped a few quick photos before turning to leave.
As they were crouched in the bushes, when they stood up, Cathy suddenly spotted a grasshopper in Edith’s hair and gasped.
Edith quickly covered her mouth, but it was too late. Someone inside the factory was alerted and came rushing out. “Who are you two? Stop right there!”
“Run!” Edith shouted, pushing her bike out of the bushes. Cathy quickly hopped onto the back seat, and they pedaled off as fast as they could.
Three or four buity guys jumped into a car and took off after them. No matter how fast their bike went, it couldn’t outrun the car, and the distance

Cathy was scared to the point of almost crying. “I’m so sorry, it’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have shouted.
“Do you think those bad guys will capture us and sell us off to the mountains? No, wait, they probably will kill us to cover their tracks.”
Edith was exasperated, thinking. These guys aren’t fugitives; they aren’t going to kill us to cover their tracks. They’re probably just reacting like petty thugs
Just then, a black luxury car suddenly pulled up beside them. The window rolled down, revealing a familiar face–Kane
Kane spoke quickly, “Get in the car, now.”
Edith had accepted his help once before and didn’t mind doing so again. She nodded. “Pop the trunk”
Kane didn’t know why she needed the trunk open, but complied anyway. To his surprise, Edith swung the bike onto her shoulder and pla
Kane was speechless, thinking, An heiress casually hosting a bike onto her shoulder–this is something you
don’t see every day.
And in such an urgent situation, Ms. Lovett is still concerned about a bicycle worth only a few hundred bucks. Totally not fitting her persona.”
After securing the bike, Edith pulled Cathy along to the car’s back door and climbed inside
Then she noticed there was already someone sitting in the back seat. She slowly turned her head and was stunned, speaking in disbelief, “Dodo!”
