Reborn, She's Back for Revenge novel Chapter 83

Chapter 83

Edith put on her headphones. The broadcast filled the room instantly, cutting off all the noise from the outside world.

She made great efforts to study science. She found science the hardest among all subjects, at least five times harder than chemistry. She thought have

to spend more time studying it. This is my first exam since coming back. I can’t blow it.

With Larry’s notes, she learned quickly and finished all the basics of physics in no time.

Her memory was sharp. Without making a special effort, she just read through the formulas once and remembered many of them..

Suddenly, someone knocked on her door.

Edith turned off the broadcast and called out, Come in.”

Joseph walked in with his homework. Edith, I’ve corrected all the mistakes. Can you take a check for me?

He placed his notebook on her desk.

Edith gave it a quick look and found he did it well. She nodded. You’re done with today’s homework. Go get some rest.

She lowered her head and went back to wrestling with science.

For some reason, Joseph felt Edith was cold to him.

If he got all the answers right the other day, Edith would offer a tip or two, telling him how to solve the problems properly.

But today, she didn’t say a single word.

Joseph wondered, Ever since Edith came back, she’s been acting weird. Is it because of what Karen said?

After thinking for a while, Joseph said, Edith, I don’t think what Karen said is right.

He hung out at school for a while after classes, then came home, had dinner, and took a break. When he started his homework, it was already past eight, and he’d be working on it until Edith got back.

Doing homework for an hour each day is manageable.

Edith said indifferently, That you think this way proves you’re being mature.”

But in her mind, he wasn’t mature enough.

Edith thought, If he were mature enough, he wouldn’t call Karen Mom.’

But she didn’t blame Joseph. He was young, and he didn’t know right from wrong and had no idea how Karen married into the Lovett family.

She lowered her head and went back to her homework.

Joseph took it as a snub.

He’d rather Edith scold him or give him a hard time like before than ignore him.

This made him feel miserable.

He glanced at Edith’s desk, which was covered with all kinds of SAT exercise books and some test papers that remained to be done.

He sighed and thought, Edith is so busy. She is occupied with her studies, and she still has to keep an eye on Zachary and me. This is too much for her.

Just as he was about to leave, he caught sight of Edith’s shoes.

He thought, It seemed like Edith was wearing this pair of shoes the day she came back. She’s hardly taken them off these past two weeks, and the front of the shoes appears to have come unglued.

Joseph felt bitter at heart.

He thought, Karen wasn’t giving Edith money. Edith didn’t have money for new shoes or new clothes.

And Zachary had even ruined Edith’s nightgown.’

[Dinging. The host has received someone’s heartfelt sympathy. Reward: an elementary school math exercise book.]

Edith was focusing on her homework when she turned around and saw that Joseph was still in her room.

She thought, Wait, did he feel sad for me?

Why did he feel sad for me?

Sorry, Edith. I’ll leave now,Joseph said quickly. He was afraid that he would disturb her, so he grabbed his notebook and walked outside.

Wait!Edith’s voice came from behind him.

Joseph’s face lit up with joy.

He thought, Finally, Edith stopped ignoring me.’

He spun around eagerly.

Edith pulled a book out from behind her back and tossed it into his arms.

Take a look at this. Do the parts you know, and leave the ones you don’t,she said.

Joseph caught it and glanced at the cover. It was an elementary school math exercise book. He wondered, Did Edith buy it specially for me?

He was touched.

He hugged the book and walked back to his room, miserable and dépressed.

Edith calmed down and finished a science paper. She barely managed to score a sixty. The system rewarded her with 300 dollars.

She looked at the time. It was already 10:30 PM.

Zachary hadn’t come back.

Edith thought, So, he really did go to the bar?

He’s quite adept at the trick of agreeing publicly but scheming privately.

Edith called Zachary, but after two rings, the call was declined.

Edith was exasperated at Zachary, and a cold smile tugged at her lips.

She glanced at Zachary’s schedule. Next week was also the monthly exam. Edith thought, If Zachary could manage to get into the top twenty, I’d let it

  1. go.

But if he didn’t make the cut, I’d settle both the old and new scores with him.

Edith closed her test paper and decided to call it a night. This was the first time in ages she had rested so early.

The room went dark as she turned off the lights. She put on her headphones, and the news broadcast played in her ears, cutting off all the noise of the

night.

Before long, she fell into a deep sleep.

She had no idea where she was, with a bunch of people around her.

She tried to see clearly and realized it was her four younger brothers and Hallie.

Edith, I know you want to get back at Mom and me, but you can’t burn down the Lovett manor.Hallie’sobbed, covering her face.

Dallas was burned to death. Cedric’s legs are ruined. Zachary is disfigured from the fire. Joseph’s gone blind. Thank goodness Shaun’s okay Edith, why did you do it? You’ve ruined our whole family, continued Hallie.

Edith shook her head repeatedly. It wasn’t me. I didn’t set the fire. I ran in to save people.

Cedric sat in his wheelchair, his face filled with disappointment, and he didn’t say a word.

Zachary, his face wrapped in bandages, snapped, The servants saw you pouring gasoline in the manor. Who else would it have been?

Joseph’s eyes were covered. He said coldly, You’re not our big sis.

Shaun remained silent, hiding himself in the shadows.

Edith shouted desperately, It wasn’t me. I hate the Crawfords, and I hate Karen, but how could I burn down the Lovett manor?

Hallie said as tears came, Mom had planned to have Grandma and Uncle over for dinner at the manor that night. You wanted to burn all the Crawfords to death.

But my grandma got sick and had to go to the hospital, so the dinner was cancelled and she escaped. Edith, how cruel you are.

No matter how Edith tried to defend herself, no one believed her.

Vincent strode in and said decisively, I have no daughter like you. From this day forward, you are no longer a member of the Lovett family.

Edith looked at her four brothers, some wounded, some blind, some crippled. Not one of them was willing to stand with her.

She stumbled down the street like a ghost, completely shattered, and she saw the Crawfords throwing a big celebration.

All her hatred hit her at that moment. She rushed over, wanting to rip the fake masks of everyone in the Crawford family.

Right then, a car hurtled toward her.

Edith jolted awake with a start. She was drenched in sweat. She’d dreamed about her previous life.

In her previous life, after Karen tricked her into marrying into the Crawford family, it took her nearly three years to get a divorce. But the nightmare was

not over.

When she returned to the Lovett family, Karen kept throwing parties to humiliate her, even using her as bait to lure in business partners. One day, she finally fell out with Karen and had a big fight at the Lovett manor.

The very next day, the Lovett manor went up in flames.

All the evidence pointed right at her, and no one believed what she said. As soon as she stepped out onto the street, she got knocked over by a car, which was sent by Hallie.

After that, she never stood up again. She lingered on in her sickbed for years, her short life coming to a miserable end.
