Reborn, She's Back for Revenge novel Chapter 96

Edith chatted with the teachers for about half an hour.

They decided against Zachary repeating a year. Instead, they’d go all in with two months of intense training, aiming for Zachary to score at least 300 points.

+13)

That wouldn’t get him into Sunspire High School or other high school, but it would be enough for the school where Cedric

went.

With Cedric keeping an eye on him, Zachary could study hard for three more years and hopefully do well on the SAT.

Let me treat you all to lunch,Edith offered.

She’d originally planned to have them eat at the Lovett residence, but with Karen and Hallie around, she didn’t want those. two affecting how the teachers saw Zachary and Joseph. Going out for lunch made more sense.

Lillian waved her hand right away. No need. I have a seminar this afternoon.”

Graham said, I’ve got to visit another student’s place.

Logan added, I’ve got some stuff to handle too.

The three teachers frequently visited studentshomes, but their basic principle was never to stay for a meal. Once they’d finished up, they’d gather their materials and head out right away.

Edith saw them out and walked them downstairs. Downstairs, they happened to bump into two teachers entering the house. These were the tutors Karen had hired for Hallie.

Hallie only had classes in the afternoon on weekends, so the teachers usually came at noon. When these two teachers walked in, they immediately ran into the three teachers sent by Stella, and they were instantly stunned.

You’re Mr. Hadley, right? The expert in elementary school math competitions?one of the tutors greeted.

And you must be Ms. Carson. I’ve heard your Engloria speeches. They were so clear and fluent. Did you used to live abroad?another chimed in.

Mr. Campbell, isn’t it? I think we met once at a teaching seminar, the third said with a nod.

Hallie’s tutors immediately flocked around the three teachers Stella brought, eagerly greeting them and singing their praises. Hallie watched, her eyes going wide in disbelief.

Didn’t Mom say she hired the best tutors in all of Sunspire? So why are they making such a fuss over teachers who only teach elementary and middle school?Hallie wondered.

Graham and the others were no strangers to this sort of praise. They just brushed it off with a few casual replies, then got in their cars and left.

Edith watched as the cars disappeared past the gates before heading back inside. She overheard Hallie’s tutors asking Karen, Mrs. Lovett, do you have Mr. Hadley’s contact info? There are a few math problems I’d really like to discuss with

him.

Karen’s face darkened with anger. You’re a high school math teacher, and you want to go consult with an elementary school teacher? Don’t you have any selfrespect?she fumed inwardly.

But clearly, that tutor wasn’t bothered in the slightest. Even though Graham taught elementary school, he was the top expert in international math competitions in all of Sunspire. When it came to math competitions, even the high school teachers deferred to him.

Karen’s face darkened as she said stiffly, It’s getting late. Let’s get ready for the lesson. The tutors had no choice but to drop the topic and headed off to the study to prepare.

Hallie was seething. Mom, are these really the best tutors you could find for me?

Karen didn’t expect these two teachers to be so inept. She said, They are good teachers and can raise your score soon, getting you into the top fifty in the school this month.

While Edith and Hallie were chatting downstairs, Zachary upstairs looked like he was about to blow a fuse.

I want a new tutor.Zachary growled, each word clipped and forceful. He was literally standing on his chair, scowling at

everyone like he was ready to start a riot.

Edith crossed her arms and fixed her gaze on him, looking completely unbothered. Why?

They’re even stricter than our homeroom teacher.Zachary nearly exploded. They want to give me lessons every night, even on Sundays? I don’t get home from study hall until nine. Are they trying to make sure I never get any sleep?

Edith replied coolly, I’ll arrange for you to do your evening study at home. Mr. Campbell and Ms. Carson will take turns tutoring you until 9:30, so your regular schedule won’t get thrown off.

She paused for a moment, then added, And another thing, since the teachers are watching you, you managed to finish today’s assignments, right?

She had her own matters to attend to and didn’t have the time to constantly monitor Zachary. He spent hours dawdling

over his homework without much to show for it.

She suddenly realized hiring tutors to come to the house was absolutely the right call. This way, she could stop worrying about him, and Zachary would finally have a chance to boost his grades quickly.

Zachary, your acne’s totally gone.Joseph gasped, eyes as big as saucers. Just a second ago, your face was covered with pimples. Now it’s cleared up, like magic. How did that even happen?

Zachary immediately rushed to the bathroom to check his reflection. His face, which had been covered in pimples all morning, was now completely clear without a single mark left behind. Could it really be because he finished his homework early today?he wondered/

Edith couldn’t help but laugh at his reaction. Still want to switch tutors?

No way.Zachary shook his head so fast it was a blur. I’m heading out.

After getting totally humiliated by Melanie yesterday, he was itching to get his pride back today. He pulled on some casual

clothes, grabbed his basketball, and headed out the door, ready for a comeback.

Edith didn’t stop him. He’d already wrapped up his homework. If she tried to stop him now, he’d probably just push back

even harder.

Edith ruffled Joseph’s hair, grinning. Go have some fun. Do whatever you feel like.

Thanks, Edith.Joseph grinned from ear to ear.

Joseph brought out his longunused game console and started playing with a flurry of button presses. Edith returned to her room to continue reading and doing practice problems.

She finished reviewing math from her first two years and was now focusing on senior year material, which summarized previous problem types. She read and took notes as time slowly passed.

[New mission issued.]

[True lady, you must possess a kind and sincere heart. Please help the injured child.]

Her hand paused with the pen midair. An injured kid?Edith thought, startled. She instantly rushed over to the next

room.

Edith, what’s up?Joseph was completely engrossed in his game, showing no signs of injury. She walked out onto the balcony and looked around but didn’t see any suspicious injured kids near the house.

Just a few hundred meters away, over at the Larson residence. Upstairs on the third floor, the door was locked tight and even the windows were sealed. Marcus had heavy chains wrapped around his wrists and ankles.

He kept trying to break free, but every time he made a run for the door, the chains would yank him back and slam him

hard onto the floor.

His head smacked into the wall with a loud thud, a nasty bump instantly swelling up.

Kane, what are you doing?Stella burst into the room, her voice tight with anxiety. If Mrs. Larson finds out Marcus is chained up, it’ll break her heart. Hurry and unlock him.

Kane felt bad too, sighing heavily. Marcus told me that if his other personality showed up, I needed to lock him up.

He knew Marcus was just worried that his other personality might get loose and cause trouble. But honestly, the other personality only ever wanted to find Edith. He never actually stirred up any trouble.

After all, Edith already knew about this side of Marcus. It should be fine letting her take care of him. But ironically, Marcus now refused to let his other self show up in front of Edith anymore.

So Kane could only do as Marcus wanted and keep him chained up, just like he asked.

Kane, have you lost your mind?Stella scolded sharply as she hurried into the room, marching straight over to unlock the chains herself.

She was well aware that Marcus had his episodes all the time, and the Larson family’s way of handling it was always the same. Let him roam wherever he wanted, just have someone keep an eye on him from a distance.

After twelve hours, they’d hook him up to an IV, and like clockwork, everything would be back to normal.

But just as Stella reached Marcus, he suddenly lunged at her like an enraged lion. Caught completely off guard, she was knocked to the ground.,

Mrs. Larson.Kane hurriedly helped Stella walk to the door.

Mrs. Larson, it’s best if you head out for now. I’ll take care of things here,Kane said, sounding both urgent and

reassuring.

Stella was still shaken, her heart racing. She’d always known that Marcus’s other personality had a violent streak, but she never thought she’d actually witness it like this.
