Revenge served in a black dress (Nora and Jace) novel Chapter 33

His head had whipped up at Carlos’s words, Nora was coming into the pack injured Bleeding out had been the words she told Carlos. He’d not even known where she’d been all day. Out in the city was all he knew She had left the pack at the c***k of dawn. His gate guard had reported to him as much, and he’d just kind of lay there in his bed and said nothing, gave a simple acknowledgment and disconnected the link

Could he really blame her for up and leaving? After what he’d done to her last night, he’d not expected her to fold under the weight of his Alpha Aura, as his Mate she was supposed to be his equal and could stand up to him. Shed, however, snapped over and down as fast as any human or wolf less she wolf would do.

It hadn’t really dawned on him until that very moment that Rosa wasn’t with her. He’d just been annoyed and frustrated that she’d actually moved out of the Alpha Suite. He’d been trying since that one event of her nearly being lost to the bloodlust to be a better Mate, after realizing she could be lost to if forever, and he’d have to put her down if she was. It was all one could do for those lost to bloodlust.

He’d not really concerned himself with their bond before. She was marked and mated by him and that was all that was necessary to have her here, but what he’d not realized was how she felt about Gloria being in the

Luna’s office.

He hadn’t realized it until that very day, when she and her wolf had destroyed the Luna’s Suite in their fury. Matt had told him it was bloodlust that was evolving in Nora, because she’d felt the pains of betrayal in his office, when Gloria had touched him, and he’d denied it right to her face.

Matt, however, had told him she’d actually felt it, but also it wasn’t the feeling it, that had set her off. It was his defense of Gloria, the way he stood with her, his packs Luna at his side and denied Nora had felt anything. His uncaring attitude about what she was made to feel every time he was with Gloria

It had been after that, that he’d realized the error of his ways, and finding out that not even Hydro had been able to get through to Rosa. His own wolf had howled in pain inside his mind, because they’d bitten him for just trying to help her, up off the ground that day.

She’d told him he’d never touch her again, had no right to and she, he now knew, meant it. All his efforts to

spend time with her were nothing, and it had ticked him off in the end, her uncaring attitude, and he’d lost it

completely just yesterday as his allies had arrived, only to be put firmly in his place by Alpha Desmond.

Only it was too late. His anger had been directed at her then, and later that night, after finding out she’d packed and left him, he’d been utterly furious, and he’d not only hunted her down last night, he’d actually physically harmed her.

He’d seen those tears brim in her eyes. When she’d finally lifted her eyes to meet his, he’d seen and heard the pain in her expression and voice. He’d caused her physical harm. There was a bloodied wound on her head. He’d flinched himself, at hearing how hard her head had cracked the floor, and only then had he realized what

he’d done.

Looking at her, he knew she was going to have a concussion from it even, because one pupil had been dilated while the other had not been, and even though he’d apologized right away and truly meant it, she’d once again not let him touch her. Told him he had no right to, told him no Mate should ever do that, and she

was right.

Now this, she was really, truly injured. He’d shot up and out of the chair he’d been in at hearing Carloswords. Raced for the pack hospital, Hydro had given him everything he’d had, and they’d seen her getting out of her car, staggered and there was blood flooding the ground between her feet. He’d gotten there in time to stop her from hitting the ground and just kind of stared at her.

She had multiple injuries all over her. He didn’t even know what had happened to her, or where she’d been, but he could, and so could Hydro, feel her life was slipping away from her. She was dying right before him.

Carlos had taken her from him and rushed her into the pack hospital’s surgical bay, and he’d kind of just sat there not knowing what to do. Their bond was already broken because of his uncaring ways. He’d been with Gloria for a long time and loved her. He knew that, but then had been gifted a Mate. It wasn’t something he’d been expecting, and he’d claimed her without much though

He brought her home to his pack to be his Mate, but never once considered making her his Luna. That was Gloria. Only now could he see the real error. Desmond had pointed it out to him, for although he had been trying to be a better Mate to Nora, to pay her more attention, he still had Gloria in the Luna’s office.

Hell, after Nora had stalked away from him during the first meet and greet with Desmond, Gloria had strolled over and stood next to him and smiled up at him, wearing a lovely chiffon dress. Dressed the part even, as she had been doing for decades, he’d actually been thankful she’d done it. Only now did he realize he’d fallen right back into what he was used to; Gloria at his side.

Now, as he sat waiting for the outcome, his mate bond connection to Nora was fragile and thready to him, because she was in that surgical room and losing a lot of blood. There was nothing he could do for her, he saw many units of blood being taken into that room. Carlos was in there trying his best to save her, but cut

here Jace wondered if she wanted to live.

She had no trust or faith in him anymore. He’d broken it all and though he’d thought he’d been working on it,

their bond, he now realized he’d not actually done that. By still having Gloria seated as the pack Luna, she

would never see his true intention. To bring them together, only now could he feel it.

Losing her, something the Goddess had given him, something that was supposed to be precious to him, but he’d never treated her that way, because he’d been in love with Gloria for years. She was the perfect Luna to this pack, but he wouldn’t claim her as his Mate because his wolf wouldn’t allow it. She was unable to birth him an heir. She had been damaged in battle long ago and now couldn’t carry a child.

They’d agreed to just reign as is, that she would understand if he came home with a Mate one day and step aside. But she’d not done that. Had in fact cried after seeing him with Nora and told him she loved him. That

she would stay by his side and be his Luna, and she would let him have his Mate who could produce him an

heir.

He was so very cruel, because he recalled their conversation about it, and he recalled smiling at Gloria after

Nora’s first heat, and telling her they could raise the child together. He’d somehow, somewhere along the way,

decided Nora was just a surrogate to be used to produce the pack an heir

That the child he had with his Mate would be raised by him and Gloria, he’d been confused by loving one, while bonded to another, had tried, and he knew it, to be true to Gloria because she’d begged him not to leave

her. Told him it was okay for him to have a Mate. She would just stand by his side always.

Now his Mate, who should be his Luna, felt as though she was his Mate and nothing more. She’d called him Alpha yesterday, and then, when he thought about it, she had called him Alpha on many occasions now. She addressed him as though she was nothing more than a standard pack member, and that’s how he’d treated

her the entire time she’d been here with him. It was no wonder she had lost her woll, no wonder she didn’t

want him touching her

He’d completely wronged Nora, and now she was dying, he could feel it, and he might not get the chance to truly apologize to her and make it up to her. Show her he was no very wrong and so very sorry

Even after she came out of surgery, Carlos had told him it was going to be up to Nora’s will to live. She’d lost a lot of blood, and there was no active healing to show her wolf was helping. He had, in fact, stated he couldn’t feel her wolf at all, just like the last time she’d been in the hospital and injured, it was up to flora.

What happened to her?Jace had asked as he’d followed the bed being pushed down the hallway

Carlos had sighed heavily and told him of her rupture. She’d been pregnant with his heir only it had attached in the wrong place and likely a growth spurt had caused the damage. He’d saved her uterus, and she still had one viable fallopian tube. She could still bare children, but not for at least a year, and he’d like to put her on birth control to help her body heal.

Jace had stopped the bed from being walked past the Luna Suite. She is the future of this pack, the Luna, so put her in the Luna Suite.Only to have Carlos look at him and sigh..

She won’t want to be there, Jace. I’m sorry, but she removed herself from this very room last time she was here. Stated it wasn’t where she belonged. She wasn’t the Luna to the Pack. I don’t think she’s going to want to wake up in there or stay in there. From all I’ve seen, you two are very broken.”

She is my Luna. I understand what I’ve done wrong. Carlos, and I will fix my Mate Bond and right the error! have created. He’d looked down at her, completely broken in that bed. Her other injuries?

You’d have to look into that one. I don’t know, she’s covered in bruising and scrapes. Something else happened to her today, but I don’t know what. Your guess is as good as mine until she wakes up.He’d sat by her bedside all night long and just stared at her. He didn’t even know where to start, trying to make this up to her. All he knew was that he couldn’t look at her without guilt anymore. If he’d not lost it yesterday, she likely wouldn’t have left the pack and never been injured, and she would have been able to get to the pack doctor quickly and likely wouldn’t be in this very state right now.

He’d tried to comfort her when she woke up, just tried to hold her hand, a small gesture really to show he

from him cared. And she’d not even allowed that, had pulled her hand from his and then rolled away altogether.

She was causing herself injury just to not have to look at him. She didn’t want him in the room, and how could he blame her for that? So, he left the hospital room himself. It hurt him and his wolf to know she didn’t want them there to comfort her. But leaving her for the moment was all he could do for her.
