Chapter 101 Scene Stealer
Finished
Becky spotted him through the open door–slicked–back hair, a sharp tailored suit that was obviously a costume. Even so, he looked even more handsome in person than he did on screen-
She tried to get a better look, but the door closed quickly.
A minute later, the young driver returned–this time with a plump middle–aged woman beside him.
Becky figured this must be the producer she’d come to see.
The woman froze for two seconds upon seeing her–probably shocked by how young she looked–but quickly recovered and warmly extended a hand.
“Ms. Quinn, I’m so sorry to trouble you. Thank you, thank you!”
Becky gave a polite smile. “Let’s find a quiet place to talk.”
“Of course, Right this way.”
She led Becky into a neighboring room.
The young man poured her a glass of water, then was promptly waved off by the producer.
“Ms. Quinn, I know you’re busy, so I’ll get right to the point. I have irregular menstruation. It’s been over six months since my last cycle. This has been going on for years. I’ve seen countless doctors, both Western and traditional. The Western doctors say I’m going into early menopause.”
She paused, eyes anxious. “But I’m only forty! I don’t believe it. I’ve tried traditional medicine from all over the country. really–I’ve seen practitioners from north to south. Nothing’s worked.”
“Ms. Quinn is there still hope for me! I don’t want to go into early menopause at forty”
Half an hour later, the producer walked Becky to the front gate.
“Ms. Quinn, thank you so much. My driver’s waiting to take you back–it’s the same young man from earlier.”
Becky said, “Alright. I’ll prepare the prescription and have him take it with him.”
The producer showered her with more gratitude before being called away to set.
Becky turned to leave but had only taken a few steps when the set erupted into a commotion.
She looked back just as a bearded middle–aged man ran over and grabbed her arm
“This is her! Get her into wardrobe–makeup now!”
Before she could react, Becky was dragged into a dressing room.
They threw a dress on her and started doing her makeup.
A girl beside her babbled instructions non–stop.
Yes–instructions. For a scene.
“You’re playing a dancer No lines. Just follow the male lead a few steps–no extra movement.”
“Got it? No unnecessary movement, and don’t get nervous.”
“Do you understand m
Apparently, this assistant director had pulled her in last minute Even though she was a background extra, she’d be in the same shot with top star Shane–so it had to be perfect.

Becky flashed an OK sign.
Please, she thought I’ve played random extras hundreds of times. This is nothing.
Her confident smile threw the girl off for a second.
“Just don’t mess it up–and don’t get all starry–eyed over Shane, alright?”
Becky: “…”
Starry–eyed? Seriously?
“Do your part well and here’s your pay–two hundred dollars.”
The girl stuffed two red bills into Becky’s hand. The assistant director had approved it.
Rescue cameos get paid upfront, apparently.

Becky raised an eyebrow and tucked the bills away. Not bad–she got to relive her acting days and pocket two hundred.
Soon, she was led to the center of a dance hall set.
She spotted Shane, mid–discussion with the director.
Two minutes later, he walked over to her.
“Action!” the director called.
Shane placed a hand on her waist.
This was a wartime espionage drama. Shane played the male lead–a spy working undercover.
This scene was set in a dance hall. Surrounded by enemies, he had to blend in by dancing and scoping out the room, feeding intel to his organization under the radar.
Though Shane held her waist, his gaze never landed on her.
Becky wasn’t nervous in the slightest. She moved smoothly, swaying like a trained dancer.
The camera shifted and caught her face.
The director frowned. “Why does a background dancer look this pretty?”
The assistant director muttered, “She’s just someone I pulled in. The original girl didn’t show”
“She’s stealing focus. They actually look like a couple,” the director grumbled.
“Just don’t shoot her face then,” said the AD
Tsk. That face is wasted on extra roles. Bring her in for a chat later.”
“Sure, after this take”
The director stood and shouted, “Everyone ready? Let’s shoot!”
So after all that delay, they’d been chatting?
Shane composed himself, cast a glance across the set–and froze.
Mom?”
Becky glanced up at him.
Now that was new way to greet someone.
Calling her mom‘

She’d never heard that one before.
Shane looked at her like he’d seen a ghost. Becky, a little embarrassed, tried not to laugh.
Look at that, she thought. I didn’t even fangirl, and he’s the one losing composure.
