One person taking time off was believable–but all of them?
Becky narrowed her eyes..

Xavier remained calm. “Really. They said they were attending some industry seminar. You know, one of those gatherings where everyone shares experiences and learns new techniques”
He didn’t even blink as he made it up.
Becky turned to Abigail. “Do you guys actually have housekeeping conferences?”
Abigail glanced at Xavier, then nodded. “Yeah, there’s a group chat and everything. I just didn’t go.”
Becky reluctantly let it slide.
She washed her hands, then picked up James.
James stretched out his chubby arms toward Xavier, eyes sparkling with anticipation.
After a moment’s hesitation, Becky said, “James wants to play with you
Xavier glanced down, grabbed James by the clothes, and lifted him up for another round of “spinning airplane.
James burst into laughter, kicking and wriggling in joy.
Becky shook her head and headed to the kitchen to help Abigail with dinner.
Xavier had brought over quite a haul–there was even a massive lobster.
Abigail blinked at it. “Ms, Quinn, I don’t know how to deal with this. Could you handle it?”
Becky nodded, rolling up her sleeves.
Half an hour later, dinner was ready.
As she carried the lobster out, she spotted Xavier reclining on the couch with James sprawled over him, tiny hands tugging at
his face.
Xavier scowled. “James, stop pushing your luck.”
I don’t understand you! James replied silently, grabbing his nose with a giggle.
Becky’s mouth twitched. “Dinner’s ready.”
Xavier quickly scooped James up and tossed him into the crib before hustling to the table.
He raised a brow at the spread of seafood.
His little woman really was something–she hadn’t let any of it go to waste.
Becky loved seafood. She loved all good food.
She ate two–thirds of that lobster by herself.
After dinner. Abigail washed the dishes while Becky gave James a bath.
Xavier refused to leave–he stood beside her, handing her towels and even sweeping the floor. When Abigail saw, she rushed out and yanked the broom from his hands.
“This is too precious to let you use. Let me
Xavier didn’t argue
Becky finished with James, then took a shower herself.

When she emerged in clean clothes, she shot Xavier a look. “You should go.”

He glanced at his watch. “Still early.”

Becky sighed and sat down to wait it out.
She pulled out her phone and began transferring the ten million Brendon had sent to her bank account for James’s future.
She didn’t have VIP status, so she had to transfer it in chunks.
Each time, the hefty fee made her wince.
She didn’t notice when Xavier walked up behind her.
Ive me your bank account next time, Brendon can send it straight to your card.”
Becky nearly jumped. “Are you a ghost? Why don’t your footsteps make noise?”
Xavier smirked. “I am a ghost. And tonight, I’m haunting your bed.
“Pervert!”
That was the first time anyone had called him that.
Becky checked the time.
“Five minutes are up. Get out.”
She opened the door.
Reluctantly, Xavier left.
The next day, after finishing with a patient, Mr. John poked his head in.
“Sorneone’s looking for you.”

“Dunno. But I don’t like them”
“Then i probably won’t either. Tell them I’m busy.”
Mr. John nodded and left.
But minutes later, the door was flung open.
Yvonne barged in, fuming. “Becky! What the hell is your problem?!”
Becky raised an eyebrow.
Lilian followed, surveying the modest clinic before sitting calmly across from her..
Yvonne planted her hands on her hips. “You think you’re so big now, huh? Ignoring us? The Bolton family ruined you!”
Lihan murmured. “Yvonne, that’s enough.”
Yvonne huffed and turned away.
Lilian looked at Becky “Are you doing all right here at work?”

Becky nodded. “It’s fine.”
“If you’d like a job at a bigger hospital, I can ask around.”
“No need, Mom–thank you.”
“Who said you could call her Mom?” Yvonne snapped. “You’re not
Becky blinked. “Oh, right. Sorry, Auntie.”
part of the Bolton family anymore.”
She’d called Henry “Dad” and Lilian “Mom” for so many years that the old habit had slipped out.
Lilian didn’t correct her, but she clearly didn’t want to be called “Mom” either.
Becky didn’t mind.

Yvonne, however, looked like she’d just punched cotton. She huffed again.
Becky asked coolly, “So, why are you here?”
Lilian paused. “It’s nothing urgent. We just wanted to check in. How much are you earning here?”
Becky gave her a level look. It’s rude to ask someone else about their salary”
Lilian gave an awkward laugh. “Oh… I didn’t know. I was just curious.”
Yvonne exploded. “What’s the big deal, Becky? You can’t even say how much you make? Must be peanuts, huh? Embarrassed, aren’t you?”
