Chapter 127 A Boss Worth Following
Sharon was accompanying Brendon to a dinner with a client.

The client was a short, pudgy middle–aged man with a bloated beer belly that put even a full–term pregnant woman to shame. He was so out of shape, he wheezed just from walking
After a few drinks, his face turned beet red.
Sharon sat quietly beside them. Brendon didn’t make her drink–he handled the toasting himself and drank plenty.
Midway through, he excused himself to the restroom.
As soon as he was gone, the middle–aged man slid into Brendon’s seat, eyes leering as he tried to drape an arm around Sharon’s shoulders. She dodged him.
He let out a greasy laugh. “A little feisty, I like that. How old are you? Work must be tough, huh? I’ve got a way for you to make some quick money. Want to hear it?”
Sharon fought the urge to gag and said coldly, “No.”
“Oh, but you do.”
The man slid his hand onto her thigh.
Sharon shot to her feet and slapped him across the face.
Hard.
His head snapped to the side.
His face twisted with rage. “Bitch! Playing hard to get? What’s so wrong with spending a night with me? I’m not even asking for free. Aren’t you all just trying to land a rich man anyway? I’m giving you a chance and you dare hit me? I’ll fucking end you!
“Go ahead, try it.” Brendon’s voice cut in, cold and sharp.
Sharon turned and saw him, instantly feeling saved. She rushed to hide behind him.
Brendon’s eyes turned bloodshot the moment he saw her trembling like a frightened deer.
This woman usually acted like a firecracker, always picking fights with him. And now she was terrified.
The man was clearly drunk and completely unfiltered.
“Brendon, it’s just a woman! Are you really going to let her ruin our deal? If you knew what you were doing, you’d clean her up and send her to my bed tonight.”
Brendon let out a chilling laugh. “I’ll send you straight to your maker tonight”
He slammed the door shut and locked it behind him.
The room erupted in the sound of fists pounding and kicks landing
Sharon bat her lip, eyes sparkling with admiration.
Brendon was so freaking hot right now!
The man howled in pain Brendon, annoyed by the noise, grabbed a bunch of napkins, rolled them into a ball and stuffed them in the guy’s mouth–then kept punching

“Mr. Brendon, that’s enough.”
Brendon, still seeing red, threw a few more punches before finally stopping.
He stood, dusted off his hands, and walked out the door.
Sharon quickly followed.
Once in the car, she spoke sofily, “Should we call an ambulance?”
Brendon turned and shot her a cold glare. “You feeling sorry for him?”
Fitushed
She waved her hands. “No, I just don’t want this to escalate. If he dies, we’ll be responsible. I’m not going to jail for some scumbag
“He won’t die.”
Brendon closed his eyes.
After a pause, Sharon asked, “Mr. Brendon, what if the deal falls through?”
After
He didn’t answer.
She wisely shut her mouth.
Back at the hotel, their rooms were next to each other. Brendon slammed his door shut behind him. Sharon stood silently the hallway for a moment before swiping her keycard and going in.
Sure enough, the deal was dead..
She had no idea what the man had said afterward or if he demanded compensation. Brendon never mentioned it.
She felt guilty.
Brendon didn’t speak to her the next morning.
With the deal off, there was no point in staying. They booked a noon flight back to Dracovia.
Sharon trailed behind Brendon with two suitcases, looking like a scolded housewife.
At the terminal, Brendon found a seat, took off his sunglasses, and started checking the stock market on his phone.
Sharon tiptoed up to hum, trying to speak a few times.
Brendon pushed her aside. “You’re blocking my light”
He didn’t even look at her eyes fixed on the graph
On the plane, he put on an eye mask, clearly intending to nap
Sharon knew he wasn’t asleep yet and finally opened her mouth “Mr. Brendan, I’m sorry I ruined the deal. It was my fault It you want to fire me. I won’t complain”
Brendon pulled off his task and looked at her.
He said nothing just stared
Sharon taaced herself “You can yell at me I won’t talk back”
Bernden said. “It was your fault Bus turing you would be too easy. You’re staying You’ll work like a mule to pay it off”

When you worked under someone, you often encountered shady employers. She’d had one who tried to force her to drink with clients. She quit on the spot.
But Brendon hadn’t made her drink last night. He’d taken all the shots himself–and even stood up for her when things went sideways

Sure, he was sharp–tongued and had a temper.
