Chapter 128 Rumors, Regrets, and a Red Flag
Finished
Sharon clenched her fists with determination. “Mr. Brendon, I won’t slack off anymore. I’ll work hard from now on.”
When Mary found out the deal had fallen through, she gave a knowing look
She couldn’t help but sympathize with the boss of Cloudreach Group
Sharon didn’t tell her parents she’d been harassed. If they had known, that “knowing look” would’ve turned into rage–and likely a full–on beatdown of the perpetrator.
Lyle still hadn’t found the girl who saved him, so he returned to Circovia.
His family doctor redressed his wounds.
“Your injuries were cleaned thoroughly–no signs of infection, and they’re already healing. Honestly, they shouldn’t be healing this quickly. Was some kind of medicine used?”
Lyle shook his head. “No idea. I was unconscious.”
Wayne chuckled behind his hand. “I heard it was a girl who saved you and carried you to the clinic. Usually it’s the hero saving the damsel, but you flipped the script.”
Lyle didn’t react to the teasing.
Wayne asked, “Still haven’t found her!”
“No.”
“You really ought to thank her properly.”
–“I will.”
Wayne joked, “How exactly? You gonna marry her? You’re single, after all. Could settle your whole life in one go.
Lyle shot him a warning glare.
Wayne gave an awkward laugh. “Kidding, just kidding…”
That evening. Sharon invited Becky out for drinks.
Becky turned her down.
“I’m a mom now. No freedom”
“Don’t you have Abigail”
“To Abigail, taking care of James is a job. I can’t just dump everything on her and never let her rest. I have to go home, make dinner, and give James a bathi”
“Ugh, just listening to that makes my head hurt.”
“You think having a kid is just a game?”
“I mean. I didn’t realize it was such a pain. Poor baby you”
Abigail worked hard–but Becky had it even harder.
Working during the day, taking care of a toddler at night… Sharon knew she’d have gone crazy by now.
But Becky just smiled, cheerful and calm “I chose to have him I love him Anything I do for hun makes me happy. When you’re doing something you love, it doesn’t feel tiring. I just don’t have time to go out and have fun like I used to

Sharon had no choice but to give up.
“I really hope my godson grows up fast so you can finally come party with me again.”
Becky pictured James grown up.
“By then, I’ll be old.”
“Not old–just… refined and elegant.”
Finished
Since she couldn’t drag Becky out, Sharon settled for venting over the phone and told her all about what happened on the business trip.
Becky was stunned. “Brendon did that? That’s so badass!”
“Right?! He looked so hot when he fought that creep. I regret not recording it.”
“Becky. I used to think Brendon was a jerk–rude and cold. But after this trip, I’ve changed my mind. He’s actually decent. Righteous
“Ooh, sounds like someone’s smitten.”
Sharon panicked. “No way! It’s a purely professional relationship. He used to be the boss I couldn’t stand. Now he’s a handsome, honorable boss who protects his employees. That’s it!”
Becky ignored her denial. “You two would actually be great together. Godfather and godmother to James–whole little family right there.”
Sharon groaned. “Becky! Are you even listening? Brendon is just my boss!”
“Mm–hmm. Didn’t you used to call him your nemesis? Now he’s your boss. Give it a few days and he’ll be your boyfriend, maybe husband.”
“You’re the worst!”
“Right back at you. You used to push me and Xavier together. Now it’s payback time!”
Becky’s turn for vengeance?
Sharon argued, “How are our situations even comparable? You had a kid with Xavier and your relationship is messy. Brendon and I are strictly employee–boss.”
“Messy my ass! Who’s got a messy relationship with him? Don’t drag me into that!”
“You had his kid. You’ll never be fully disconnected.”
“James is mine. I’ve got nothing to do with Xavier. Don’t link us together again. That annoying man is such a pain–always showing up, always grinning like an idiot. Honestly, he’s worse than a fly!”
Sharon didn’t even get to respond–Becky hung up.
Becky slammed her phone face–down on the table and bent over to dig through a cabinet, not even sure what she was looking for. Anything to keep herself busy.
Just then, Xavier stepped into the room.
A red object rolled to his feel
He bent down and picked it up
Becky looked up, pupils shrinking. She screamed, “Don’t open that”
As she shouted, she leapt toward him.
Xavier raised one brow and lifted his right hand higher, while opening his left arm to catch her midair.
