Chapter 130 Shadows Lurking
Xavier was impossible to miss
Standing by the car in his long black coat, tall and striking, he drew the attention of nearly everyone who passed by
He seemed completely used to it–calmly talking on the phone, expression steady.
Becky tried to hide her face behind her bag and slip away in the stream of morning commuters.
She only got a few steps before someone grabbed her collar.
With a sigh, she lowered the bag and turned around.
Xavier’s cold gaze pinned her in place.
Without giving her a chance to speak, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the car.
“Randall, to the clinic,” he ordered.
“Yes, sir.” came Randall’s reply as the engine started.
Becky sat by the door, leaning away from him, clearly not in the mood for conversation.
To his credit, Xavier didn’t push her physically.

After a long silence, he finally said. “I’m heading out on a business trip. Farocia. Could be a week, maybe two. I’ll get back as soon as I can.”
Her eyes lit up with excitement, a smile threatening to escape.
She finally said, “Take care of yourself”
Xavier didn’t miss the spark in her eyes
His gaze darkened.
“You’re happy I’m leaving, aren’t you?”
Becky wanted to say “yes” but after seeing the look on his face, she changed her tune.
“No. I’m not happy or sad. You going on a trip has nothing to do with que
They were almost at the clinic. Xavier didn’t press further.
“If anything happens while I’m gone, contact Secretary Yu. I’ll text you his number”
“Don’t stay out too late after work. Avoid walking alone.”
“Eat well, but don’t overeal”
Wo he talking like he’s never coming back? Like he’s leaving a will or something
Xavier paused to think if there was anything else to add
By then, the car had stopped. He got out first and opened the door for Becky
She stepped out waved casually Just as she was about to turn away, he pulled her into a sudden hug
Becky flailed Xavier let me go!”
“Just a moment Stay still”.
Xavier chuckled and released her “Go un inside

Her face red, she glared at him “Like I needed you to tell me! I’m going!”
She stormed into the clinic, flustered and furious.
Xavier didn’t leave until he watched her disappear inside. Then he got back into the car,
Becky’s face was still burning long after. That jerk never misses a chance to take advantage.
Still, knowing he wouldn’t be around to bother her for a while lifted her spirits.

In a rundown apartment building-
A pale, grim–looking man slouched on a worn sofa, fingers pressed to his temples.
His brows were drawn tight in pain, eyes shut from the constant throbbing in his skull.
Thick curtains blocked all sunlight. No lights were on
In the dim room, another man stood before him.
“Falcon, we should get you to a doctor. You can’t keep living with this kind of pain.“
Falcon didn’t respond.
After two minutes, he finally spoke.
“How’s the exit situation?”
“They’re locking everything down. We won’t be able to leave anytime soon. Best to lay low here until the search cases up.”
The room fell into silence again.
Another wave of pain hit. Falcon broke into a cold sweat and collapsed against the sofa.
The standing man rushed over. “Are you okay?”
“Pills… get me one.”
He hurried into the other room and returned with a bottle, popping a tablet into Falcon’s mouth.
A few minutes later, the pain dulled enough for Falcon to sit up.
“How many pills left
“One”
He shut his eyes, expression darkening. “Find a doctor. A small clinic”
“Loverheard some old Ladies downstairs talking about a Ms. Quinn. Does traditional medicine. Sounds legit. Want me to bring her here?”
“No Too risky Find out where she works. I’ll go myself.”

The disbelief was obvious on his face.
She was young, pretty, fair–skinned, with sharp, intelligent eyes.
She didn’t exactly scream “master healer.”
“Bring out Ms. Quinn.
The man–Talonox–winced, still gripping his head..
Becky replied dryly, “Told you, I’m Ms. Quinn. If you’re here for a consultation, come back tomorrow. I’m off–duty.”
Talonox blocked her path.
“You’re really Ms. Quinn?”
“Really, truly. How many times are you going to ask?”
Ugh, judging people by their looks again.
Talonox didn’t like her attitude. His brow twitched. For a split second, a deadly glint flashed in his eyes–but Becky didn’t
catch it.
“If you’re really Ms. Quinn… I’ve got migraines. Chronic. Fix them.”
