Chapter 132 Shadows Closing In
“Thank you, Talonos!” the scar–faced man said respectfully.
“What’s the latest from Wolf’s side?”
“No movement. But it could just mean our men haven’t picked anything up yet.”
Talonox thought about Lyle, the leader of the Wolves–his long–time adversary. He’d injured him not long ago.
Lyle was probably still alive.
Finished
They’d crossed paths many times over the years. Talonox knew Lyle’s strength–knew he would never give up chasing him,
Still, he mused, If Lyle dies one day, I’ll have no worthy opponent left. Boring
Minutes passed.
Talonox sat swirling his glass, deep in thought. Then he said, “That Bolton family in Dracovia.. they’re rich, aren’t they?”
Scarface froze for a second, then immediately understood. Their years of cooperation meant he didn’t need to ask for clarification.
“I’ll gather all available intel on the Boltons right away.”
Talonox grinned, his voice light, his smile chilling.
“No point in wasting time while we’re stuck here. Might as well find something fun to do. Go.”
“Yes, sir.”
Three days later.
Xavier received a call from Henry..
Yvonne had disappeared.
Xavier’s expression darkened immediately. His thoughts flashed to what had happened recently to the Lewis family.
He ended his meetings and caught the first flight home.
In the back of a van, Yvonne sat bound, wrists and ankles tied, her mouth taped shut, crying and groaning through the gag
Talonox, annoyed by the noise, turned from the passenger seat and slapped her hard across the face.
“Shut up
Her cheek swelled instantly.
Next to her. Becky flinched, pressing herself against the car door in fear.
Talonos glanced at her “Relax. I won’t hit you.”…
As if she was supposed to be grateful.
Star’d only walked a few blocks from the clinic last night when someone struck her from behind. By the time she woke up: she was in this van–along with a very familiar, very distressed Yvonne
And the kidnapper?
That shady, pale man who’d come to her clinic days ago,
Chapter 132 Shadows Closing In
Becky had sensed he was trouble the moment he walked in. That face. That smell. That
energy
Now it all made sense–he was a kidnapper.
Finished
Yvonne, still whimpering, shuffled closer to Becky, clearly hoping for protection.
But Becky could barely protect herself. Why is this idiot scooting closer to me?
Yvonne didn’t care. Becky was the only familiar face here–sitting next to her felt safer.
Becky’s mouth wasn’t taped, though her limbs were bound.
“Don’t scoot over. Stay on your side.”
Yvonne’s face was a
a mess of tears and snot. She shook her head pitifully.
Becky grimaced in disgust.
Yvonne’s mouth was sealed, and Talonox didn’t seem to realize they knew each other.
Becky didn’t know what their motive was–money? Revenge? Murder?
She hadn’t made any enemies recently… so it had to be money.
Her only real asset was that ten million Brendon had set aside for James. Could they know about that!
But she quickly realized that wasn’t it.
Talonox spoke up on his own. “Ms. Quinn, I’m leaving Dracovia. You can cure my condition, so I have no choice but to bring you with me. Don’t worry. Once we’re settled. I’ll treat you well”
Becky rolled her eyes. “This your idea of an invitation?”
Talonox chuckled. “Just temporary. You’ll be free once we get there.”
My medical skills got me kidnapped. Great. But what about my baby? What about James?
She hadn’t returned home last night. Abigail must be worried sick. Had she called the police?
Was anyone looking for her?
Becky kept her panic hidden, her tone casual. “What about her? Why’d you take her?”
She nodded toward Yvonne
Talonox figured she’d eventually learn their business anyway.
“She’s from a very rich family”
And with that, Becky understood.
Yvonne was bait. This was an extortion job targeting the Boltons.
She didn’t know whether to pity Yvonne or herself.
Yvonne, on the other hand, actually seemed relieved.
She thought. As long as it’s about money. I’ll be fine. My dad, my brother–they’ll pay whatever it takes
She had no idea that the man in front of her was a ruthless killer. He’d take the ransom–and kill her anyway
Xavier stepped off the plane
At the airport exit. Brendon watted, flanked by two rows of bodyguards
1:58 PM

Xavier got into the car. Brendon’s expression was grim.
“We suspect this is Talonox’s doing
“Any contact from the kidnappers?”
“None yet.
Just then, Xavier’s phone rang.
It was Abigail.
He answered instantly.
Finished
“Mr. Xavier, Abigail’s voice trembled with worry, “it’s Ms. Quinn. She didn’t come home last night. And this morning she’s still gone. Her phone’s off. I didn’t know who else to call.”
Xavier’s chest tightened. “What do you mean she’s gone?”
“She didn’t come home last night. I called and called–her phone is off. I’m really scared. I didn’t know what to do
Xavier’s hand clenched around the phone, his voice low and tight.
“Got it I’ll find her.”
