Chapter 135 Blood and Bluff
He didn’t trust Becky. He suspected she was exaggerating

But he had no proof–and more importantly, they needed Talonox to stop screaming in agony and start giving orders again. They still had to complete the transaction and escape cleanly.
“You treated him before and it worked. Do it again. I want him better. Now.”
Becky shook her head. “That method won’t work anymore.”
Then what will?”
“Only one option left–bloodletting.”
He frowned. “You can’t be serious.”
Still, he didn’t stop her. Instead, he reached into his coat and pulled out a small bottle. Inside was a single pill.
He moved to give it to Talonox.
Becky slapped it out of his hand.
“That’s the one! That’s the pill that’ll kill him–give it to him now and his blood vessels will burst!”
Startled, he paused. The pill lay untouched on the dirt. Her intensity had caught him off guard.
He glanced at his watch. Time was running out.
“Fine. Do it your way. But if this doesn’t work, I’ll kill you myself.”
He wasn’t convinced. But what choice did he have?
“I’ll need my tools,” Becky said.
He returned with a familiar white medical kit.
She recognized it instantly. Of course. Not only did they kidnap me–they even looted my supplies.
He dropped it at her feet. “Get to work.”
Becky opened the case, grabbed a small scalpel, and moved toward Talonox’s wrist.
“Wait!” b
‘he barked
She looked up.
“What?
“Aren’t you gonna disinfect that?”
“Oh. Right. Forgot.”
Professional, isn’t her she thought sarcastically.
She sterilized the blade, then without flinching, sliced Talonox’s wrist. Blood gushed out.
The shock jolted Talonox awake. He blinked at the blood pouring from his arm, dazed.
His eyes found Becky. “What are you doing?
“Treating you,” she said calmly.
“Why my wrist?”
“Oh, come on Look at you. You’re in no shape to ask questions Relax. I’m a doctor Doctors help people–even scumbags
You’ll be fine”

Talonox grunted and said nothing more. Maybe he remembered that even murderers got treated in hospitals. He gave in and
leaned back
She positioned his arm so the blood would drip neatly onto the ground.
Scarface watched the growing crimson puddle, looking uneasy.
“How long is this gonna take?”
“Five more minutes,” Becky said.
He glanced at Talonox, who was pale as a ghost. “Are you sure he won’t die from this?”
“He won’t. Trust the doctor. And stop hovering–you’re slowing me down.”
He checked the time again, visibly tense, then stormed off toward the control van.
When he came back, his frustration had only grown. “Henry’s almost here.”
Becky stayed focused.
“Why isn’t he better yet?” Scarface growled. “Last time it was instant.”
Becky didn’t look up. That was before you people pumped him full of garbage meds. I’m doing my best to fix what you ruined. If I hadn’t intervened, he’d already be dead.”
Scarface gritted his teeth. He didn’t understand a thing about medicine–but neither did anyone else. So for now, he had to
trust her.
Becky sat cross–legged on the ground, eyes locked on Talonox’s wrist–but her mind was racing.
How the hell do I get out of here?
There were a dozen armed men, all huge, all alert. No one could help her now–not unless she made a break for it herself.
Talonox was done–too weak to chase or lead. He was breathing, but barely. Not a threat.
Scarface was dangerous, but if she caught him off guard, she might buy enough time.
The key is chaos. I run during the confusion, toward the woods. There’s a river a mile from here–I saw it earlier. Across the water, there are houses. That means people.
If I can swim across, I might survive. If I get caught… well, at least I tried.
Talonox looked like death itself.
White as chalk, slumped over, barely breathing. His gang watched anxiously.
He was their leader, the brain behind every job. Working for him was risky, sure–but it was profitable. They didn’t want to
love him.
Minute by minute, Scarface kept running back and forth from the command van.
The last time he returned, he found Talonox limp, his arms hanging like dead weight, lips white, barely clinging to
consciousness
Furious, he bellowed, “What the hell did you do?!”
Becky didn’t even blink. “He’s lost a lot of blood–of course he’s weak. Don’t worry. I’m bandaging him up now. He’ll be fine.”
