Chapter 136 Escape and Rescue

Becky wrapped Talonox’s wrist with gauze–no disinfectant, no ointment, nothing. But the kidnappers were too tense to notice the sloppiness. No one questioned it.
The moment Scarface went back into the control van, Becky quickly sawed through her bindings with a hidden silver needle.
She could hear Scarface yelling inside, arguing with someone on the phone. Sounded like it was the Bolton family. They were demanding to see Yvonne before transferring any money.
Scarface roared threats into the phone, shouting that if they didn’t send the money immediately, he’d kill Yvonne on the
spot.
The rug–of–war was reaching a boiling point.
Becky clenched her jaw. Please, hold out a little longer, she silently prayed to the Bolton family. Don’t give in.
Two minutes later, Scarface leapt from the van and marched toward her.
She gripped the needle tightly in her fist, every muscle taut with adrenaline. As he drew closer, she braced herself. One chance. One shot,
He was two steps away when chaos erupted.
A flood of men in black uniforms surged from the treeline, all armed.
“Guns out!” Scarface yelled.
The kidnappers sprang into action, pulling their weapons. A firefight exploded.
Becky ducked behind Talonox, using him as a human shield.
But then Talonox–supposedly on the brink of death–suddenly stood. He swayed, steadied himself with the chair, and pulled a gun from his waistband.
What the hell?
Was this adrenaline? A final surge before collapse?
“Get in the car! Move!” Talonox bellowed before collapsing back into his seat.
Two men rushed to lift him and drag him toward the vehicle.
Becky seized the moment, bolting

Talonox, half–carried, looked back and pointed. “Bring her back!”
Scarface growled and turned around, sprinting after her while still firing at the attacking agents.
At that moment, a fleet of SUVs roared into the clearing.
Xavier jumped out of the first car, heart in his throat, eyes locked on Becky.
Wolf’s team had already subdued the men guarding Yvonne. She was safe now, sobbing as she recognized her brother.
Yvonne cried so hard her voice cracked through

the gag. My brother! My brother’s here! I’m safe!
Scarface grabbed her, just as Xavier sprinted forward, panic flashing in his eyes.
But Becky spun around smoothly and jabbed the needle into Scarface’s body.
He twitched–then collapsed like a felled tree.
Even Lyle, who had been seconds from pulling the trigger, froze mid–stride.

Well, that works. he muttered.
Talonox, halfway into the getaway vehicle, turned and saw the scene. His eyes widened.
He had completely underestimated her.

Lyle was about to rush forward when he caught Becky’s face.
His breath caught. That was her–the girl who had saved him.
She looked back at h
him too.
“It’s you!” she said, stunned.
Lyle wanted to talk, but his teammate shouted his name, urging him to keep moving. He gave Becky a look, then ran off to pursue the fleeing kidnappers.
Talonox’s forces were falling fast. Some had been shot, others surrendered. Xavier’s men helped secure the rest.
Xavier ran straight to Becky and pulled her into a hug, trembling.
“Becky thank god… thank god you’re okay…”
She hadn’t expected to feel so relieved at seeing her ex–husband–but his familiar arms gave her something solid to lean on after everything.
She clung to him, her heart still racing, her nerves frayed.
For a long second, the world faded around them. Just breathing. Just relief.
Then-
“I want a hug too!” Yvonne’s tear–streaked voice piped up.
Becky pulled away, and Yvonne rushed in to wrap herself around Xavier, sobbing hysterically,
“I’m so glad you’re here–I thought I was going to die–they hit me–look at my face–it’s all swollen–boohoohoo…”
Xavier patted her back, offering comfort, but his eyes stayed fixed on Becky.
Becky stepped aside and borrowed a phone from one of the bodyguards. Hers had been lost–probably tossed by Talonax
She called home.
“Abigail, it’s me.”
“Ms. Quinn: Oh my god, it’s really you?!”
Becky nearly cried at the sound of her voice.
“I’m safe now. I’ll be home soon. How’s James?”
“He’s been such a good boy. He’s okay. Don’t worry.”
Becky finally relaxed. Her knees nearly gave out
Thank you, Abigail. Thank you so much.”
No need to thank me. When will you be back!”
