Chapter 138 Daybreak and Unspoken Feelings
Xavier turned at the sound of the door and ended his call in a hurry, walking straight over to Becky.
Did I wake you?”
“No. I just woke up on my own”
Finished
She didn’t mention the nightmare–being dragged off to a godforsaken place in Tarocia, forced to marry Talonox. She’d refused, and he had whipped her so hard she jolted awake.
“What time is it?”
Xavier checked his watch. “Five a.m. Almost dawn.”
“You didn’t sleep?”
“I’m not tired.”
Becky hesitated, “You were the one who carried me here?”
Xavier smiled. “Of course, I wouldn’t let anyone else touch you.”
He said it like she belonged to him. She looked away, visibly uneasy.
“Have the special forces come back?”
“Not yet. The police took the remaining kidnappers.”
Becky gave a small nod. After a moment, she asked, “Can you help me get a flight ticket? I don’t have any ID. I want to fly home. The sooner the better.”
“It’s all arranged. We’re on the ten a.m. flight. You’re flying with me–no ID needed.”
Becky blinked. “Thank you.”
“When are you going to stop being so polite with me?”
She didn’t answer.
Truth was, when he ran toward her last night, her heart had been moved. And from that moment until now, he’d been taking care of her, arranging everything without her needing to say a word:
Xavier looked at her for a few seconds, then gently steered her back into the room she’d just come from. “Take a shower. I had some clothes sent over for you.”
Becky lifted her arm and sniffed.
Yeah. She needed a shower.
She gave him a grateful glance and stepped into the bathroom.
Not long after, someone knocked. Xavier’s voice called from outside the door, “I left your clothes here. Take them in yourself -I’m heading out”
“Okay.” Becky called back.
She opened the door, retrieved the neatly packed clothes, and brought them in. There was a full outfit inside–top to bottom Even undergarments
Her face turned red. He even thought of that.
Meanwhile, Lyle was squashed in a car with his team, excitedly dialing home.
Chapter 138 Daybreak and Unspoken Feelings
“I found her. I found little sis!”
Wayne shot upright in bed, waking Oriel beside him. She rubbed her eyes sleepily. “What’s going on?”
Wayne didn’t have time to explain. He jumped out of bed. “Where? I’m coming right now!”
“We’re still in Cloudtopia,” Lyle said. “I didn’t get to tell her yet. Just saw her for a moment. I’ll go find her now,”
“Send me the location. I’m coming over.”
Finished
“Calm down, you’ll scare her. Let me talk to her first. Besides… she seems really close with Xavier. When she was in danger, he was the first one to run to her. She must’ve been living in Dracovia for a while.”
Wayne’s tone went ice–cold. “Danger? What danger?”
“Talonax kidnapped both Yvonne and little sis.”
Wayne exploded. “Why didn’t I hear about this?”
“If I’d known earlier. I wouldn’t have stayed in Circovia either, Lyle admitted. I only saw the security footage Xavier sent me on the way, and I couldn’t see her face
“Is she hurt? Scared?”

Lyle scratched his nose. “Didn’t look hurt. No blood. She tank.”
He burst out laughing.
The sudden bark of laughter startled Oriel, who was already getting dressed.
She hadn’t met her sister–in–law yet, but clearly, something big had happened. Her husband’s family was celebrating.
Wayne’s voice was proud. “Good. Very good. She’s a true Shanks. You said she’s close to Xavier?”
“Yeah”
Wayne suddenly remembered the silhouette he’d glimpsed in Xavier’s office that one time. That back… It had felt familiar. He punched the wall in frustration.
Heaven so close, and he missed it.
“I should’ve trusted my gut. Just barged in and checked. Even if it was rude.
Back then, Xavier had said she was someone he liked–but hadn’t won over yet.
He was going to investigate. Thoroughly.
Another call came through for Lyle–his commanding officer asking for an update.
Lyle was still bitter. Dann it. Talonox got away again
Becky stepped out of the bathroom with damp hair draped over her shoulders
Xavier, sitting on the couch, looked up at the sound
His gaze froze. A flicker of awe flashed through his eyes
She was simply dressed–brown sweater, black skirt–but her fair skin and delicate features made her look effortlessly
