Chapter 139 Breakfast and Bloodlines
Finished
Becky had no idea that after Xavier brought her back to the hotel, he’d gone out to a nearby shopping mall in the middle of the night. He’d called the manager, who rushed over and opened the place just for him. The whole mall was dark and empty
just the two of them walking through it as Xavier picked out her clothes.
Xavier walked up to her. “You look beautiful.”
Becky’s cheeks flushed red. She quickly changed the subject. “I’m going to grab something to
“I’ll come with you
eat.”
She didn’t object.
They ate breakfast at the hotel restaurant. The spread was impressive, and the food was delicious, Becky, starving after two days, filled the entire table with plates.
Xavier looked helpless. “I told you, don’t overeat.
“I’ve been starving for two days. Let me eat a little more.”
He
gave in, planning to have someone buy her some digestive medicine later.
Midway through the meal, Xavier’s phone rang. He answered. It was Lyle.
“Where’s the girl?”
Xavier knew exactly who he meant. He glanced across the table at Becky, who was happily stuffing her face “Hotel
restaurant.”
Lyle hung up immediately.
Xavier pocketed his phone, casting a deep look at Becky.
A few minutes later, Lyle strode into the restaurant.
Becky looked up and saw the special forces soldier walking toward them–tall, sharp–featured, his short buzz cut making him look even more intimidating. He was handsome.
She had a kind of reverent awe for soldiers. Just looking at him made her feel admiration.
But then she sensed a chill. She turned and found Xavier glaring at her like she’d done something unforgivable,
What the hell is his problem?
“The special forces are back,” she said.
“Special forces?” Xavier asked, seemingly innocently.
“Yeah,” Becky replied. “Those guys from last night. They were amazing when they were taking down the kidnappers.”
Xavier’s face darkened.
“Amazing Becky, let’s try that again. One more time.”
“Fine All you guys were amazing” she said with a grin.
Xavier felt like he was having a heart attack. Why is this woman like this??
Lyle stopped in front of Becky, casting a large shadow
Becky looked up and greeted him cheerfully “Hi!”
Lyle’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He couldn’t speak She looked just like their mother.
Chapter 139 Breakfast and Bloodlines
There was no doubt. This was his sister.
Becky felt a little weirded out. He was staring without blinking.
Xavier didn’t like any of it, but he stayed silent.
Lyle finally found his voice. “Hi”
Becky relaxed. He’s finally acting normal
She dragged over a chair for him
“SIL
Lyle sat, still watching her closely.
Finished
“Have you eaten?” she asked.
He nodded, then shook his head.
Becky stood up. “I’ll get you some food.”
Xavier’s
Xavier’s face turned grim.
Lyle quickly grabbed her wrist. “I’m not hungry, I’ll eat later
Right now, food meant nothing–he just wanted to talk to his sister.
Becky blinked, then nodded and sat back down.
“Did you guys just get back?” she asked.
“Yeah.”
“Is anyone hurt?”
Lyle’s heart nearly exploded. She was concerned about him. First she got him a chair, now she was asking if he was okay.
He straightened up. “No injuries.”
“That’s good. As long as no one’s hurt.” She leaned forward slightly. “What about Talonox? Did he die?”
That was the part she really cared about. That bastard deserved a bullet in the head.
Lyle answered, “He got away.”
She didn’t say anything for a moment, holding back her disappointment. Special forces soldiers have it hard, she told herself. Gunfights are dangerous. It’s not their fault.
Lyle rubbed his nose, sensing her displeasure.
“I mean, we’ll catch him. It’s only a matter of time.”
Becky couldn’t hold it in anymore. “I drained his blood, you know? He was hanging on by a thread. How’d you let him
Lyle stared. “That zombie–looking state of his.. that was your doing?”
He’d seen Talonor alumped in a chair with his eyes closed and thought he was just sleeping. Turns out he’d been drained.
Even when Talonos stood up, he’d been swaying and had to be helped to the car.
They’d chased him to the Tarocia border and were this close to catching him. But Talonox had planned for it – dozens of his men rushed out to cover his retreat
The man was good at winning loyalty His people protected him with the lives
Sull, despite las escape they’d captured one of Talonox’s top henchmen–thanks in large part to Becky
