Chapter 169 The New Year’s Toast
Becky changed into a simple sweater and jeans. Much more comfortable.
Standing in front of the mirror, she thought about that kiss–and her cheeks flushed on their own.
Navier really knew how to flint. She was no match for him. If it hadn’t been for her sheer force of will, she would’ve surrendered already
Damn it. She lost because she didn’t date much in her last life and didn’t have enough experience. That’s why she had no defense against a handsome man’s full–on charm attack
She had to admit she was a little attracted to Xavier, but she’d made up her mind a long time ago not to get tangled up with) him again.
But now things were getting more and more complicated. Her relationship with Xavier was getting less and less clear. So frustrating. What was she supposed to do?
All she wanted was to raise James well. She never even thought about findin
And now she was getting caught up with Xavier again?

Just then, her phone rang.
She picked it up and saw Sharon’s name on the screen.

“Sharon.”
thought about finding a man
“Becky, why aren’t you home? There’s no one at your place. No one answered the door.”
“I’m in Circovia with Abigail and James. There’s no one at home.”
Sharon frowned. “Circovia? What are you doing there?”
She couldn’t recall Becky having any friends in Circovia. Sightseeing? But Circovia didn’t have much going on this time of
“It’s a long story. I’ll explain everything when I get back.”
If Sharon found out she was the missing daughter of the Shanks family–and her idol’s sister–she’d probably lose her mind. She might even come storming into Circovia.
Better to tell her face to face when she got back.
Sharon frowned but didn’t press further.
“When are you coming back? New Year’s Eve is right around the corner. My parents said you should spend it with us this
year
Becky felt a warm glow in her heart
The Yale family had always treated her well.
“Sharon, tell your parents Happy New Year for me I won’t be coming back this year.”
You’re spending New Year’s in Circovia?”
“Yeah”

That I’ll tell you when I get back.”
“You’re being all secretive. What are you hiding from me?”
Becky laughed. “It’s a good thing. I promise. Oh, and when I get back. I have something for you. You’re gonna love it.”
Sharon wasn’t expecting much.
“Let me guess, some freebie you picked up somewhere!”
“It was free, but it’s still worth a lot. You’ll like it.”
Sharon figured she was probably right. No use getting her hopes up with Becky
The two chaited for a while before hanging up
Yulia had also come to Circovia. She called Xavier, but he didn’t answer. He didn’t reply to messages either.
She asked Kevin for the hotel Xavier was staying at, but Kevin refused to give it to her.
Yulia felt disappointed.
Kevin used to be on her side, always polite to her.
Why had his attitude suddenly changed?
She thought about asking Wendle for help, but her pride got in the way. Especially after Wendle left her behind the other day -she was still pissed about that.
Yulia wandered around Circovia for two days but didn’t find Xavier.
While walking around, she ended up outside the Great Media building.
Looking up at the impressive building, she felt a strong desire.
She wanted into the
entertainment industry.
A smaller agency had scouted her before, but she thought they were too small and couldn’t do much for her–so she hadn’t signed
She was a cellist and had already held ten solo concerts. She had a bit of name recognition in her field.
That agency thought she had a good look and wanted to promote her.
These days, a lot of people crossed over into entertainment.
She wanted to give it a shot too.
If she made it in the industry, her name would skyrocket.
But she didn’t want to start with some tiny company. She wanted into Great Media–the biggest agency with top–tier
resources.
She’d tried to get in touch with someone at Great Media, but so far, nothing had come of it.
With New Year’s Eve fast approaching, Grace called and told her to come back.
She had no choice but to return to Dracovia.
Dn New Year’s Eve, the Shanks household was full of life.

This was Becky’s first New Year’s Eve back with the family, and they went all out.

He said excitedly. “This is the happiest New Year’s I’ve had in years–because my daughter’s come home. That’s all I’ll say.
Let’s drink!”
Becky glanced at the glass of juice in front of her, pushed it aside, and turned to a servant.
“Bring me a wine glass,”
The servant quickly brought one over
Janus was drinking baijiu–he loved that stuff.
The Tour Shanks brothers had poured red wine.
The decanter was sitting in front of Winston.
Becky looked over. “Winston, pour me a glass.”
All the guys at the table stared.
Julia too.
“Lily, just drink juice. It’s fresh–squeezed.”
To her, her daughter was still a little girl. She shouldn’t be drinking.
Becky smiled, “Mom, I’m happy today. I want a drink.”
Truthfully, she was just craving alcohol.
Seeing everyone’s surprised faces made her feel a little self–conscious.
But she really did want a drink.
