Chapter 170 Drunk and Precious
She wasn’t the soft, delicate type anyway. Her family would find out eventually.
She had no interest in pretending.
Becky simply got up, walked over to Winston, picked up the decanter, and poured herself half a glass of red wine.
“Come on, cheers! Happy New Year, everyone!”
The guys around the table stared for a moment, then raised their glasses.
Oriel laughed. “Lily, you’re bold. I’ll drink with you.”
She hadn’t planned on drinking tonight.
Becky smiled and had a servant bring another wine glass over.
At least her sister–in–law got her.
Everyone knew Oriel could hold her liquor, so no one was worried.
The men at the table, however, were eyeing Becky nervously.
“Lily, take it slow.”
“That wine is strong. Don’t overdo it.”
Becky tried to pace herself at first, but after half a glass, she let loose.
Maybe the alcohol was kicking in–she was starting to get excited.
She poured herself another..
Oriel looked across the table at her little sister–in–law, who wasn’t much of a drinker. Her cheeks were flushed, clearly tipsy. She smiled.
“Here, drink.”
“Okay.”
Oriel took a small sip.
She’d though: Becky had a high tolerance, but it was obvious she’d just been craving a drink at the start.
Didn’t take much to get her like this,
She smiled and said, “Let’s drink slowly. Eat something first.”
Julia chimed in, “Yes, yes, eat a little to soak up the alcohol.”
She served some food onto Becky’s plate
Becky turned with a silly grin. Thanks, Mom!”
Julia was stunned silent for a second.
Her daughter was so cute when she was drunk–all soft and
cuddly.
She couldn’t help but reach out and rub Becky’s cheeks a couple of times, looking at her with a warm gaze.
Becky’s bright eyes were now a little watery from the alcohol
She piggled. ~| have a mom now. Hehe. Have a mom! A child with a m happy

Julia couldn’t hold it in anymore and started crying.
Her daughter had been through so much over the years
Becky, sitting beside her, saw her tears and stood up to hug her
“Mom, don’t cry. Don’t cry
Julia cried even harder, her tears streaming downL
Her daughter was so thoughtful, so sweet.
Everyone else at the table was visibly moved.
Wayne felt a pang in his chest.
Ever since their reunion. Becky had always been calm. They were the ones who’d been emotional
Turns out she’d been holding it in. Now that she’d had a bit of wine, her real feelings came out.
She was happy to be home.
Janus wiped at his eyes and tried to change the subject. “Alright, it’s a happy day. No more crying. Let’s cheer up. Time to start handing out lucky money!”
Hanson immediately dropped his fork and bounced over to Janus, kneeling on the floor.
“Grandpa, Happy New Year!”
His shiny little eyes looked up at Janus as if to say: Grandpa, hurry up and give me money!
Wayne and Oriel both turned their heads away, refusing to acknowledge their son.
Ugh. How did they end up with such a goofy kid?
Janus’s mouth twitched, but he still pulled out an envelope and handed it over.
“Here you go, you little rascal.”
“Thanks, Grandpa!” Hanson sprang to his feet, grinning ear to ear
He strutted back to sit next to Aaron and showed off his envelope.
“I got lucky money!”
Before Aaron could say anything, Hanson was off again.
Aaron watched as his silly little brother headed for Grandma next.
“Grandma, Happy New Year!”
Julia gave his head a vigorous rub and handed him another envelope.
Hanson got up quickly and made his way over to Lyle.
“Uncle Lyle, Happy New Year!”
Wayne and Oriel really wanted to leave the room. So embarrassing
Lyle chuckled, picked him up with one hand, and gave him an envelope too
Then Hanson greeted Winston and Logan, and both of them smiled as they gave him lucky money.
Becky, still a linle tipsy but not totally drunk, pulled out two envelopes of her own and handed one to Hanson.
ve got lucky money for you too

Hanson’s eyes lit up, and he dropped to his knees in front of her.
Becky was momentarily stunned but quickly pulled him back up.
Hanson smiled goofily
Becky didn’t even know how to respond.
Then Hanson shifted his little eyes toward Wayne and Oriel, eyes flicking back and forth
Wayne saw exactly what he was thinking and shot him a glare.
If that little rascal dared come kneel in front of him, he’d kick him straight out the door.
Oriel turned her head away too, refusing to look at him.
Hanson thought it over and decided not to ask his parents for lucky money after all.
They were kind of scary. Better not push his luck.
He’d already done pretty well for himself today. He went back to his seat with a pile of envelopes and immediately started opening them to count the red bills inside.
“One two…”
Aaron was mortified and whispered, “Hanson, stop counting. Do it in your room.”
