Xavier seemed to know exactly what she was thinking and chuckled.

Becky pressed her lips together and turned to him. “How did you know I was here?”

Xavier shifted closer until their bodies were nearly touching, his eyes warm and tender as he gazed at her.

“We’re connected. Mind to mind.”

Becky rolled her eyes.

What a load of crap.

She turned away, not bothering to ask again. For someone like Xavier, finding out where she was couldn’t have been hard.

Xavier found her little eye roll and look of disdain absolutely adorable.

“I really want to kiss you.”

Was that even appropriate to say?

Come on boss, that is just wrong!

Randall muttered silently in his head.

Becky shifted away from Xavier, scooting toward the door, eyeing him warily in case he tried anything.

Kissing in front of Randall? Her face would never recover from that level of embarrassment.

Xavier covered his mouth, shoulders shaking with laughter.

His little woman was just too cute.

Becky was speechless. What was so funny?

They arrived at the villa.

just as Becky was about to get out of the car, Xavier grabbed her wrist. “Wait.”

“What now?”

Xavier gave her a mischievous smile. “Be good. Just wait a second.”

He turned to Randall. “Randall, you’re off for the night.”

“Understood.”

Sensing something strange in the air, Randall opened the door and bolted–faster than a rabbit. He vanished in seconds.

Becky turned around to ask what Xavier was up to–only for him to pull her into his arms and kiss her hard.

She froze.

So this was why he sent Randall away.

The intense scent of his cologne and heat surrounded her. Becky didn’t have time to think of anything else.

The car was small. Inside the house, the maids were moving around. She could even hear James babbling.

It all sent her nerves into overdrive.

Xavier kissed her like he was about to take her right there in the car. It scared the life out of her.

Thankfully, he let go in the end.

Their foreheads touched as they both caught their breath, heartbeats pounding in the tight space.

Becky’s legs had gone weak. If Xavier hadn’t been holding her, she might’ve collapsed.

That kiss was lethal. Absolutely devastating.

When they went inside, Becky took extra care to smooth out her hair and straighten her clothes.

Abigail saw the two of them walk in one after the other. Her expression was a little strange, and she hid a quiet smile.

She’d actually noticed Mr. Xavier’s car returning a while ago.

Sharon dropped Brendon off at the entrance of his villa community.

“Mr. Brendon, we’re here.”

Brendon glanced out. “Drive in.”

Sharon had no choice but to pull the car into the neighborhood.

Brendon rolled down the window. The security guard saw who it was and immediately opened the gate.

Once inside, Brendon directed her. “Left. Then keep going straight.”

“Stop. This is it.”

Brendon unfastened his seatbelt but didn’t get out right away. He turned to Sharon.

“Thanks.”

“No problem, Mr. Brendon. Just doing my job.”

Brendon looked at her for two seconds, then stepped out.

Sharon turned the car around and drove away.

She really liked how things were between them now–easy and pleasant.

It hadn’t always been this way. Back then, Brendon would yell at her constantly, and she’d secretly curse him out.

They used to clash hard, every encounter ending in fireworks.

The next morning, when Sharon got up, Barry and Mary were already back from the market, carrying loads of groceries- bags of vegetables, chicken, duck, fish, meat. The entire kitchen was packed.

Mary glanced at her disheveled daughter and said, “Eat breakfast. Then help me prep the vegetables.”

Her parents were doing all this for her–hosting Brendon was their way of showing support.

Sharon felt grateful. She quickly went to freshen up, scarfed down her breakfast, and got to work.

By ten, she grabbed her car keys and headed out to pick up Brendon.

She already knew his address and drove straight there.

At the gate, the security guards had changed shifts. They didn’t let her in.

She had no choice but to call Brendon.

The phone rang for a while before he finally picked up. His voice was lazy and groggy through the receiver.

“What is it?”

Sharon froze for a second. Brendon sounded like he’d just woken up.

But she was already at the gate—she couldn’t worry about disturbing him.

“Mr. Brendon, I’m at the entrance, but the guards won’t let me through. Could you come let me in?”

There was a pause. “Give me a second.”

The call ended.

A second later, the guard booth phone rang. One of the security guards answered, then quickly opened the gate with a respectful nod. “Please, go ahead!”

Sharon drove up to Brendon’s house and saw the front gate was already open. She pulled in without hesitation.

She got out and rang the doorbell.

A minute later, Brendon answered the door himself.

It was Sharon’s first time seeing him like this.

His hair was messy, he was wearing gray loungewear, and his whole vibe was lazy and relaxed.

Brendon stepped aside. “Come in.”

Sharon changed into indoor slippers and entered.

His house was huge.

But she wasn’t surprised–she’d seen even grander places before. Like Xavier and Becky’s old wedding villa, Westview Pavilion. That was luxury. The first time she saw it, she’d been blown away.

Brendon opened the fridge, pulled out a bottle of cold water, twisted off the cap, and took a long drink.
