Chapter 50 Sorry, Only One Nanny Left

Yvonne said, “Yulia, Becky really had a baby with my brother. My parents went to confront her, just said a few words, and she ran off crying to Xavier. He came home and totally blew up.”

Yulia’s expression shifted. She hadn’t expected Xavier to still be so protective of Becky.

“Your brother went too far.”

“Exactly! And guess what else he said?”

“What?”

Yulia had a sinking feeling–whatever it was, she wouldn’t want to hear it.

Yvonne said, “He said he wants to remarry Becky! Can you believe that? Has he lost his mind or what?”

Yulia’s shoulders slumped, her whole body deflated like the life had been drained out of her. Yvonne waved her hand in front of her face. “Yulia? Are you okay?”

Yulia’s eyes turned red; tears spilled down her cheeks.

Yvonne quickly handed her a tissue. “Don’t be sad, Yulia. My brother’s just temporarily under Becky’s spell. Don’t worry, none of us will let her get away with it. I’m on your side. To me, you’re the only one who deserves him.”

Yulia dabbed at her eyes. “Thank you, Yvonne. But your brother, maybe we were just never meant to be.”

“Who says that? You two are perfect for each other. I believe in you. Yulia, you have to stay strong and fight for him.”

Yulia asked quietly, “And how exactly do I do that?”

Yvonne thumped her chest. “Don’t worry, I’ll help you.”

Yulia, touched, held her hand. “Thank you, Yvonne.”

“Come on. Yulia, no need to thank me. You’re basically my sister–in–law already.”

Yulia lowered her head, bashful.

Yvonne, go ahead and eat the cake.”

Yvonne scooped a bite into her mouth. “So good!”

Meanwhile, at Dracovia’s most luxurious bar.

It was the kind of place frequented by heirs of wealthy families and celebrities.

In a private room on the second floor, Xavier was nearly finished with an entire bottle of whiskey.

Brendon grabbed his hand. “It’s not expensive, but that’s not how you drink it.”

Xavier shrugged him off, poured the last bit into his glass, and knocked it back in one gulp.

Then he slumped onto the couch.

Brendon asked, “What the heck is going on with you?”

Navier reached up and loosened the top two buttons of his shirt, looking utterly drained.

“I just realized, I’ve been a real bad guy.”

Brendon tilted his head. “Come again?”

Xavier didn’t look at him, just kept talking, like he was muttering to himself.

“When we got divorced, she asked me for a house, I said no. She asked for money, I refused. I was so angry,

I even took back the wedding ring. Tell me, wasn’t I just a complete scum?”

Buddy, if you hadn’t divorced, you never would’ve figured out you were in love with her.

Brendon couldn’t help but roll his eyes again. That’s it, he’s gone. This guy’s totally fallen for Becky.

Estella spoke first. “Ms. Quinn, my daughter’s about to give birth, so I need to go home and take care of her. James is older now: Abigail can manage on her own. If you’re okay with it, I’ll pack up and head out

tomorrow.”

Becky was briefly stunned, then nodded. “Of course.”

She’d been about to say she didn’t have enough money to pay both of them and could only afford to keep one, meaning she’d have to disappoint the other. It would’ve been uncomfortable.

Estella speaking up first spared her that awkwardness.

I’ll pay your final wages, Estella.”

Estella waved it off. “No need, Mr. Bolton already paid me.”

“How much?”

“We agreed on twenty thousand a month before we started.”

Becky wasn’t surprised. She had looked into it, good nannies did cost that much.

Now that she knew the price, she could plan to pay Xavier back later.

“Abigail, I’ll be paying your salary from now on.”

Abigail looked unsure. “Mr. Bolton already said he’d cover it. The money just shows up in my account, there’s nothing I need to do.”

Becky thought for a moment. “Alright, we’ll leave it like that for now.”

Later, she’d talk to Xavier and tell him to stop sending the money.
