Chapter 51 I’m Telling Mom on You

She was carning a decent income now, enough to afford a nanny’s salary. After Estella left, Becky told Abigail, “Abigail, just focus on taking care of James. You don’t have to cook for me. I’ll get off work early and handle it myself.”

Abigail was more than happy to hear that.

Watching over a child while also cooking had proven to be too much.

James was now fully on formula, which saved her a lot of trouble; still, the cost of formula cach month. wasn’t exactly cheap.

More and more people were seeking Becky out for consultations.

She was busy every single day.

Outside, Yulia waited with her mother.

“Mom, why don’t we just go to a proper hospital instead?“.

Grace shook her head. “No. I’ve had this appointment for ages–it took forever to get in.”

Yulia eyed the long line ahead of them and muttered, “Mom, what if this woman’s a fraud? You guys always fall for this weird alternative stuff. If you’re sick, you should go to a real hospital. Coming to places like this just means you’re getting scammed.”

Grace gave her a warning look. “Watch your mouth. I’m telling you, she is the real deal. Several of my friends have had their issues cured by her.”

“Seriously? Sounds like a placebo effect.”

“It’s not. You remember my friend? Her face was completely twisted; she saw all kinds of doctors, got poked with acupuncture so many times she wanted to die and nothing worked. But Ms. Quinn cured her. I saw her just the other day, and her face was totally back to normal. She was so happy she couldn’t stop smiling.”

Yulia still looked skeptical.

That was exactly why she’d decided to tag along today.

Finally, it was their turn.

Yulia walked Grace into the consultation room.

When she saw Becky sitting there, even with the mask on, she recognized her instantly.

She was so shocked she couldn’t speak.

Becky’s clear, bright eyes froze for two seconds, she was clearly surprised too.

But she quickly composed herself and motioned for Grace to sit down.

After a round of questions and diagnosis, Becky prescribed some herbal medicine.

Grace’s issues were fairly minor, typical ailments for someone her age.

She was fully convinced by Becky’s skills and left singing her praises. Becky just smiled in response.

Yulia lingered behind, stepping in front of Becky. “Becky, what are you doing here?”

Becky looked up at her. “Ms. Yulia, this is my working hours. I can’t chat. There are other patients waiting.”

Yulia had no choice but to leave.

As soon as they were outside, she snatched the medicine from Grace’s hands and threw it in the trash.

Grace was furious. “What’s wrong with you?” She quickly fished the medicine back out.

Yulia lunged again, but this time Grace guarded it tightly.

“Mom, I’m telling you, that woman’s a fraud. Do you even know who she is?”

“Yulia, Becky actually does know traditional medicine. She’s certified. Her skills were taught by her grandmother, her name was Jade, she was super well–known back in the day. My mom’s illness was cured by

her.”

Yulia was stunned.

She hadn’t expected Becky to actually have any real ability.

Awkwardly, she said, “Looks like I misunderstood.”

Good thing she hadn’t rushed off to tell Xavier herself.

After a few more words, she hung up the call.

On her way downstairs, she overheard Grace on the phone.

“Ms. Quinn is a fraud. She once stole my daughter’s boyfriend. Totally immoral. None of you should go see her.”

Yulia opened her mouth to object, but after thinking it over, said nothing. She just walked past Grace.

At the door, she bumped into a teenage boy in a basketball jersey.

He was drenched in sweat, holding a basketball, and barked impatiently, “Can’t you watch where you’re going?”

Rubbing her arm, Yulia looked up at him. “You’re the one who wasn’t paying attention when you came in.”

The boy slammed the basketball to the ground and put his hands on his hips. “Yulia, you’ve got a lot of nerve, blaming me? I’m telling Mom!”

“Mom! Mom!”

He shouted at the top of his lungs.

Grace hung up the phone and walked over. “Oh hey, my son’s back! Are you hungry? I’ll have the kitchen cook you something.”
