Chapter 96 Amalie
My head hurts. Why does my head hurt so much? Did my parents decide to beat me with silver chains again?
No, that’s not right. If they had been beating me with the chains, more of my body would hurt.

I blink open my eyes, expecting to see the basement like always. My Rose curled up crying, as she doesn’t know what is going on. But what greets me is green forest.
Forest? Why am I outside? Then it hits me, everything from the last month. Almost dying, being rescued by the twins, my mates. Rose and I being free. Spending time with Calyx and Markus. The date last night, ending it by watching the stars.
Then the rogue attack. Having Rose hide as the two rogues forced their way into the bedroom.
Rose! Did they find Rose? Or is she still terrified as she is hiding in Uncle Mike’s closet? Goddess, please let her be safe.
“In and out,” the second male voice from earlier yells. “We were supposed to be in and out before the alphas knew we had been there.”
“It’s not my fault!” a male growls. I know this voice, why do I know that voice? “I told you how to get into the territory and when to strike. You lousy mutts messed up!”
“Watch it! You needed us for revenge on your former pack!” the other voice continues.
I gasp, Mathew! It’s the twins‘ father!
“She’s awake,” Mathew growls. “You two couldn’t even drug her properly.”
“Hey! We’ve been the ones taking risks here! You decided to stay out here in the forest and just observe,” the other male growls in anger.
“I led you here!” Mathew yells.
I don’t know what possessed me to say this, I may never know. “You were always the kind of leader to sit on the sidelines while others did the hard work,” I say.
Now, I have no idea if that was even true. I had been locked up for the last seven years. But what I did know was that I needed to stall for time for Cal and Mark to find me. And pissing off their dad seemed like a good place to start in my discombobulated state.
“You bitch,” Mathew snarls at me. He lunges and grabs me by the throat.
“We need her alive!” the other male shrieks.
Chapter 96 Amalle
“I don’t care,” Mathew snarls as he brings my face closer to his own. “You should have died in a
ditch long ago.”
“Then why don’t you kill me,” I challenge him. I know that I am not suicidal, but the things coming out of my
Make me believe that I have a death wish.
“The moon goddess must have been feeling generous when she created you,” Mathew sneers at me.
“And she must have been delusional when she created you,” I shoot back. Okay, I need whatever rage that overtook me a few days ago to come back and help me out here. I can’t feel Beren. I need that rage to force a shift so I can try to fight my way out. The only problem is I don’t know how to summon or control that rage.
Mathew squeezes his hand around my throat. “I should have killed you years ago,” he growls at me.
I snarl at him as my oxygen has been cut off. I try to reach for Beren, she is I here somewhere. I need her strength, or even just her claws at the moment.
“What in the name of the goddess are you doing?” a female screams as she crashes through the
forest.
“Stay out of this pup,” Mathew orders as he lifts me up by my throat.
I continue to growl and claw at his hand, trying to get oxygen back into my lungs.
“We need her alive to take back to the Coven,” the female yells.
He throws me against one of the trees, knocking my head against it. The spinning is now a consistent throbbing.
I watch with blurry eyes as Mathew prepares for an attack from the she wolf. “Why isn’t he
“Grab the girl and let’s go,” Mathew orders as he starts to walk away.
“You stabbed my sister!” he shouts.

“We don’t have time to argue. The twins are coming,” Mathew growls. “Grab the bitch and let’s go.”
The man plants himself where he is and growls. He’s about to shift, but the female lets out a whimper. The man drops to the ground as he starts to comfort the girl.
“Shit,” Mathew curses before he is running towards the border.
“Shh shh, it’s okay,” the man says.
I try to stand so I can see if I could be of any help. My legs crumple under my weight.
“Both stay down,” he orders us. He is using the rest of his shirt as a bandage on the female. “Caitria, I need you to shift. I need to inspect Kira’s wounds.”
With a painful whine, Caitria shifts back into her human form. “Danny,” Kira whimpers.
“Shh, you’re going to be okay,” Danny whispers as he tries to stop the bleeding.
“Give me one reason why I shouldn’t rip you to shreds?” Zviad growls as he crashes through the trees into the clearing where I am. He, Aziz, Sandu, and Lowell, all enter the clearing.

But it’s Sandu that gives the reason why. He is staring at the female when he says, “Mate.”
