Alicia stepped out of her professor’s office just in time to bump into Chloe.

Chloe shot her a cold huff—her usual air of arrogance—and swept past, arms loaded with documents, disappearing into the office Alicia had just left.

Watching Chloe’s retreating figure, a sly smile flickered across Alicia’s lips.

Alicia had known Chloe was lurking outside, eavesdropping. That was why she’d deliberately told her professor she needed to return home for an important design competition. She was counting on Chloe to run straight to Jade with the news.

The truth was, Alicia realized Reginald’s health was rapidly failing. She had no choice but to go back—the weight of the White family would inevitably fall on her shoulders.
