Rich Radiant and Over Him (Alicia and Vincent) novel Chapter 487

“Sir…” The doors to the ER had barely swung shut when the assistant rushed over, breathless. “Someone must have leaked news that the old man’s not going to make it. Brandon and Jade arrived in Harboridge City overnight—they’re outside now, asking to see him one last time.”

The hospital entrance was swarming with reporters. Brandon was, after all, the old man’s son. If he was denied entry now, who knew what the tabloids would print tomorrow?

Clayton’s eyes darkened as he glanced at his assistant. “Let them in. Both of them.”

Outside the hospital.

Jade clung to Brandon’s arm, their performance flawless, as if they might collapse in tears at any moment.

“Please,” Jade sobbed to the security staff, “just let us see our grandfather one last time.”

Their little display for the cameras wasn’t just for show; it was ammunition for the looming battle over the inheritance.

“Miss Jade, we’ve heard a rumor that the White family’s heir—Miss Nicole—has already been found. Do you have any inside information?” a reporter called out.

Jade shook her head, crying harder. “Everything in the White family rightfully belongs to Nicole. If she’s really back, we’d never fight her for it. But Grandpa is my family. I just want to say goodbye.”

Brandon dropped to his knees, tears streaming down his face. “Dad, please—let your son see you one last time. I know I wasn’t born to the woman you loved, but that wasn’t my choice. All these years, I’ve given everything to the White family. Are you really going to turn me away in the end?”

Every word was for the media. Brandon might have been the illegitimate son, born from an affair, but it wasn’t his fault. He’d devoted his life to the family—surely he deserved something in return.

They were gearing up for a public relations war.

And, deep down, Brandon and Jade were gambling. Gambling that Nicole—the real heir—wouldn’t make it back.

“Dad, I’ve got people watching Clayton. Anyone who even looks like Nicole, we’re investigating. So far, nothing,” Jade whispered to Brandon.

Maybe Nicole hadn’t been found at all. If she really had, would Reginald have held on this long, despite the pain? It was probably just a smokescreen, a rumor started on purpose.

Brandon nodded just as Clayton’s assistant approached.

“Mr. Brandon, Miss Jade—please, come with me.”
