Zoey’s chest rose and fell sharply, fury burning through her. She had never imagined she’d fall into Natalie’s hands like this; yet she couldn’t do a thing about it.
The situation backed her into a corner, leaving her mind in chaos. Why the heck did I even come here today?
“Hurry up and decide. I’m giving you ten minutes. If you don’t choose within that time, I’ll have no choice but to call the police.”
Natalie’s voice was ice–cold; the words made Zoey grind her teeth in rage.
The minutes ticked by.
Natalie sat calmly, watching Zoey squirm; the faint curl at her lips betrayed a touch of satisfaction.
Atlas had been standing quietly to the side, but fearing Zoey might try to bolt, he quickly stepped over and blocked the doorway.
There was nowhere for her to run.
After eight minutes of standoff, Zoey finally caved. “Fine. I’ll apologize.”
“Ms. Zoey, if you’re going to apologize, then do it properly. When you stand outside, if you look the same way you do now, my clinic and my patients won’t see any sincerity. Without that, how could they forgive you?”
“It’s just a lousy little clinic. Why should I care about sincerity?”
“The clinic may not care, but patients do.” Natalie rose to her feet and moved toward her. “Don’t you think so?”
“Just hurry up already! Don’t waste my time!”
Zoey, seething, turned toward the door.
“Hold on, where are you running off to? We haven’t recorded anything yet.”
Natalie’s voice stopped her in her tracks. “Recorded?”
When she turned, Natalie was already at the counter, pulling out a medium–sized megaphone. She carried it back and held it out. “This records, too. After you apologize, you’ll stand outside

with it for half an hour so my patients can hear it. Show them your sincerity, and we’ll call it
even.”
Zoey’s face went slack with shock.
A laugh slipped from Atlas.
Zoey swung a glare at him. “What the hell are you laughing at?”
“Sorry. It’s just… so humiliating.” Atlas smirked, still amused. “I couldn’t hold it in.”
Natalie couldn’t help the curve of her lips either. “Sure, it’s humiliating–but it’s the most effective way I could think of for an apology.”
Zoey’s face turned black as ink. She stayed silent.
Atlas stepped forward, curious. “What’s the matter, Ms. Zoey? Not willing after all?”
Zoey shot him a murderous look.
Natalie set the megaphone down. “If you don’t want to, then I’ll call the police. This whole mess has damaged my clinic badly enough; I need an explanation. Don’t you agree?”
“Who said I wasn’t willing? Did I say
that?”
Zoey was practically shaking with rage.
“In that case…” Natalie tapped her chin thoughtfully, then nodded. “Atlas, record it for her. I’ll go change my clothes.”
“Got it.”
Atlas cheerfully accepted the megaphone, watching Natalie head to the back.
As soon as she stepped into the break room, she heard his voice outside. “Ready to start?”
“Just hurry up! Stop dragging this out–you’re wasting my time!” Zoey barked into the megaphone.
But Atlas kept needling her. “Too soft. Louder. Right now it sounds like a bird chirping. Who’s supposed to hear that?”
Zoey snapped, “Can you shut up? You’re throwing me off!”
“Then speak up! Do it in one go. Stop stalling–you’re wasting our business hours…”
