“Mr. Collins, I told you before–my divorce from Jackson is none of your business. I don’t need your help, and what happened today-”
“What? You’re just going to pretend nothing happened?” He tilted her chin up, his tone cold and sharp. “Everything that should and shouldn’t have been done, we’ve done. Do you really think you can walk away unscathed?”
Natalie’s breath caught. Aside from that final step, they had indeed done everything else.
“Do you have any idea how this looks from the outside?”
Marcus‘ lips curved into a dangerously captivating smile.
He released her chin, leaned close to her ear, and said in a voice dripping with sinful teasing, “Call me your lover.”
Her lashes fluttered wildly.
Then, as he pulled his lips away from her ear, his palms cupped her face; his thumb brushed lazily over her cheek.
“Our relationship now is the same as the one between Jackson and Victoria,” Marcus murmured, his voice low and husky. “So, do you understand now?”
Natalie forced her heartbeat to steady; she fought to keep her composure.
She met his gaze with a cool, practiced smile. “Mr. Collins, I have no interest in being your so- called lover. If that’s the kind of woman you want, there are plenty out there. There’s no shortage of women who admire you. Please… let me go.”
“And what if I say no?”
His voice dropped, deep and dark, sending a shiver through her. Her fingers, gripping the sides of her skirt, clenched tight.
In Natalie’s eyes, this man was the very embodiment of danger–someone she could never afford to touch.
And yet, here they were, hopelessly entangled.
“Uncle Marcus, Natalie…”

Natalie instinctively swallowed. “Mr. Collins, he’s looking for us. I’ll go out first; you wait a moment before coming.”
Before he could answer, she shoved him back and quickly reached for the door handle.
“Ms. Foster,” his low, magnetic voice echoed behind her, “I told you before–you’ve caught my interest. Since you stepped into my game, I will never let you walk
away unscathed.”
Her hand froze on the doorknob.
She drew in a quiet breath, forced down her nerves, and opened the door to leave.
Behind her, Marcus‘ gaze followed her retreating figure; the smile on his lips never once faded.
By the time Natalie reached the hallway, Jackson was walking toward her.
He glanced at her, then at the warehouse door. “What were you doing in there?”
“The rain outside was too heavy, and I couldn’t leave. I had nothing better to do, so I wandered around,” Natalie replied evenly, her tone calm. “I haven’t been back in three years; I just wanted to see if anything in this house had changed.”
Her explanation made Jackson’s brows knit slightly.

He didn’t respond; instead, his eyes swept the area. “Did you see my uncle?”
“He went to the restroom,” Natalie said quickly, giving Marcus an opening to slip out. Tilting her head toward Jackson, she added, “I have a few things I want to discuss with you. Can we talk?”
She started forward; hearing his footsteps behind her, she finally allowed herself to breathe.
In the living room, they sat facing each other.
“Whatever it is, just say it,” Jackson said, lifting a cup of tea and draining it in one swallow.
Natalie met his eyes, her own gaze unwavering.
After a brief silence, she finally spoke. “I know you care about Grandpa’s health, but the way things are now, we can’t keep dragging this out. I want you to sign the papers soon, so we can end this marriage”
