Chapter 124 Don’t Flirt In The Driveway
“What did you mean just now, Ms. Foster? Were you trying to get rid of me on purpose?”
His voice was low and dangerous, curling around her like smoke. Natalie’s grip on the umbrella handle tightened involuntarily.
“Mr. Collins, I was only worried you’d say something inappropriate in that setting–something that might strain everyone’s relationship.”
She gave her wrist a sharp tug, trying to break free of his hold.
“Oh? Is that so?” His grip on her wrist tightened instead; his tone was lazy, almost careless. “And what exactly were you worried I might say? Go on. Spell it out.”
“Mr. Collins, I’m not joking.”
Her gaze lifted, sharp and steady as it locked onto his, her expression dead serious.
“And what made you think I was joking?”
Her stomach twisted; the unease that had followed her out of the warehouse returned full
force.
Not here. Not now. The front entrance had cameras. From where they stood, the angle probably wouldn’t catch them, but if someone happened to see, it wouldn’t end well.
Marcus leaned in, his voice pitched so only she could hear. “Or is it that you’re afraid I’ll tell him we’ve kissed and nearly ended up in bed?”
Her lashes fluttered before she could stop them.
Every time he came close, every time he spoke to her like that, her nerves unraveled, leaving her raw and restless.
“It’s late. You should head home, Mr. Collins; thank you for coming by to see Aiden today.”
With a sharp twist of her wrist, she wrenched free, yanked the car door open, and slid inside
without another word.
The door slammed shut; a second later, the tires screeched as she floored the gas and sped away. She never once looked back.
Marcus stood there at the curb, motionless, watching until her car disappeared from sight.

He had barely parked the car when Fiona hurried toward him. “Sir, Mr. Fu is here. He’s waiting in the living room.”
Marcus‘ brows furrowed. Ruben never showed up unannounced unless it was important.
“Alright. Go take care of your work.”
He strode quickly toward the living room.
Ruben was sprawled on the center sofa, brewing tea like he owned the place. At the sound of footsteps, he turned his head sharply.
When his gaze landed on Marcus, his mouth curved in a grin. “Out drinking on a stormy night like this? You’re relentless, you know that? You’re making the rest of us look bad.”
“Just went to Clear Estate,” Marcus said, taking the seat opposite him and meeting his eyes. “What brings you here so late?”
“You remember what happened at your dinner party–how I got caught up in that mess?”
Marcus‘ response was quiet, almost indifferent. “I remember.”
Ruben poured him a cup of tea and slid it across the table. “I had someone look into it afterward. Guess what they found.”
“Cut to the chase.”
Marcus lifted the cup and downed it in one smooth motion.
“Turns out,” Ruben said, his voice dropping low, “Victoria put her best friend Zoey up to it. You probably don’t know Zoey, but Rayne–you know her, right? That woman always hanging around your nephew…”
Marcus‘ expression darkened several shades,
Natalie had been right all along.
“I just don’t get it,” Ruben muttered, frowning. “Why would she come after me? I don’t even know the woman. What’s the point of drugging me out of nowhere?”
“That night,” Marcus said, his voice flat as steel, “you weren’t the only one who was drugged. Natalie’s juice was spiked, too.”
