Shattered Then Healed By His Love (by Haley Blanton) novel Chapter 142

Chapter 142 Guess Who Showed Up

“Did I say anything wrong? He’s nothing but trash,” Lucy snapped, glaring at Atlas. “Men- none of you are worth a damn.”

“Hey…” Atlas sounded flustered. “Don’t lump me in with that!”

“Did I mention your name? Why are you so quick to take the blame? What, afraid people won’t notice you fit right in?”

“I’m a man, sure,” Atlas shot back, eyes narrowing, “but that doesn’t mean I’m cut from the same cloth. Keep running your mouth, and I’ll call the cops.”

“Natalie, seriously–are those even words that make sense?”

Lucy turned to Natalie, her expression full of disbelief.

Natalie had been in a foul mood after Jackson’s visit, but listening to the two of them bicker- sniping back and forth without missing a beat–pulled a faint smile from her.

“You two keep arguing. I’m off early today; taking An–An out for dinner.”

She picked up her bag, taking the child’s hand as she left the clinic.

Lucy shot Atlas one last glare and hurried after her. “Hey, wait for me…‘

Behind them, Atlas‘ voice carried down the hall, half–grumbling, half–whining. “You’re just gonna leave me here to work late by myself? Real nice. Real classy.”

Meanwhile, Natalie had wanted to take Lily out for a meal that evening, so she’d asked Lucy to bring the child to the clinic after school.

By the time dinner was over, it was well past eight.

Once she’d coaxed Lily to sleep, Natalie headed downstairs for a glass of water. Lucy was sprawled out in the living room, still glued to her game.

Seeing her, Lucy spoke without looking up, her voice animated. “One of your old clients came by today–said a floor vase shattered and he wants you to fix it. But it’s a tough job; the thing’s over four feet tall, not something just anyone can handle. He wants to know if you’ll take it.”

Natalie hadn’t expected a new commission so soon.

A piece that size was no easy job; it would take time and precision.

And besides, she’d been planning to launch her social media account; filming the restoration process of something this intricate would be perfect for drawing followers–an ideal boost for her platform.

“Sure,” she said. “Take the job for me. Have them deliver it here.”

“You’re planning to work on it at home?”

Lucy finally glanced up, brows knit with curiosity.

“Yeah.” Natalie nodded toward the second floor. “I’m clearing out the attic. It’ll be my temporary workshop; that way, if I need to work late, I won’t disturb anyone.”

“Nice! I’ll call him tomorrow and have it sent over.”

“Great.”
