At her words, Victoria looked around in shock, frantically trying to locate the source of the voice. The panic on her face was broadcast for all to sec.

“Nonsense! That’s absolute nonsense! Don’t listen to her!” she stammered, her voice high and strained. “This hairpin was a gift from my grandmother! Director, where’s the director? Cut off the call!”

She was in a complete panic, but the director, seeing the show’s ratings skyrocket, made no move to disconnect the call. He simply left the phone on the table.

The host, trying to regain control of the chaotic scene, finally spoke. “Miss, if you’re going to claim this hairpin is yours, you’ll have to provide some proof. You can’t just accuse someone without evidence.”

“There is a small ‘N‘ engraved on the back of the hairpin,” Natalie’s disguised voice said calmly. “It’s the first initial of my name. If you don’t believe me, you can have the experts on site examine it with a magnifying glass.”

Another wave of shock went through the studio.

“An ‘N‘?” Victoria shrieked. “What ‘N‘? I’ve had this hairpin for years, there’s no letter on it! Stop making things up!”

Natalie watched the screen, a cool smile on her lips as Victoria’s expression grew darker and more desperate.

“I ask that the experts please take a look,” she said, her voice clear and firm.

With the situation spiraling out of control, the host had no choice but to bring the two on–site appraisers onto the stage. They took the hairpin and examined it carefully.

“There is indeed a letter ‘N‘ here,” one of them announced after a moment. “It’s very small, impossible to see with the naked eye. You can only make it out with a magnifying glass.”

The expert’s confirmation sent the studio into an uproar.

“Oh my god! So she really did steal it?”

“It couldn’t have been stolen. It must have been obtained through other means.”

“But even so, it couldn’t have been anything honorable! That’s disgusting!”
