The doctor quickly pulled out his equ

ipment, listening carefully to Gabriel’s breathing; moments later, shock flashed across his face as he turned to Natalie. “It’s… it’s really improved. Mrs. Collins, your medical skills are remarkable.”

Natalie only offered a faint smile, nodding politely at Gabriel and the doctor.

“Doctor, are you certain my grandfather’s okay?”

Jackson’s eyes brimmed with disbelief.

In his mind, Natalie’s skills had always been barely passable at best. His grandfather’s condition was so serious that even the specialists in the hospital hadn’t dared attempt meridian therapy. When did she become this good?

“Doctor, you’d better double–check,” Victoria cut in sharply, her voice rising as she watched Natalie preparing to leave. “If something happens after Ms. Foster walks out of here, who’s going to take responsibility?”

“She’s definitely improved his condition,” the doctor said, his expression turning thoughtful.

“From what I’ve heard, the only person who can get results that fast with meridian therapy is that legendary traditional medicine expert–Claudia. Mrs. Collins, if you don’t mind me asking… how do you know her?”

Every gaze in the room turned to Natalie.

She had been on her way out when her steps stilled. Claudia.

That name was her nickname. The one her grandfather had given her; the one only he had ever used.

Natalie curved her lips into a small, almost indifferent smile. “I don’t know the doctor you’re talking about, and I’ve never had any contact with her. Since Grandpa’s feeling better, I’ll be leaving. If he needs anything, you can always reach out to me.”

The moment her words fell, a flicker of disdain crossed Victoria’s face–subtle, but there.

Of course. She’s always been just a housewife, Victoria thought, smug. Sure, she can carve a bit of jade and play at medicine, but nothing more. How could she possibly know some legendary master?

“Alright, Natalie, take care.”

Gabriel’s face softened with a kind smile as he watched her leave.

Jackson’s gaze followed her retreating figure, a frown tugging at his brow. Why does it feel like she’s hiding something from me?

Hearing footsteps approach, Marcus shifted slightly where he stood against the wall by the doorway.

Natalie walked out in the opposite direction, unaware that he was there.

His dark eyes followed her as she walked away, shadows flickering in their depths. Slowly, he pulled his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

“Mr. Collins, did you need me?” James‘ voice came through the line.

Marcus‘ gaze stayed fixed on her slender figure until the elevator doors closed and she disappeared from sight. Only then did he speak, his voice low and sharp. “I want a full investigation on Natalie. Everything, from childhood to now.”
