Chapter 36 Guess Who Owns The Place
“Opening a medical clinic?” Marcus frowned slightly. “Where’s the location?”
“Nearby Everhill Road.”
Natalie only learned that Gabriel had been discharged and sent home the day after it happened.
Relieved, she threw herself completely into preparing for the medical clinic.

For the past few days, she had been scouting for a location and finally settled on a property Lucy had found for her.
The space wasn’t large, but it was just the right size for a traditional medicine clinic.
It was also close to Oakridge Estates right off the main road. The place had been freshly renovated and didn’t need any major work.
It turned out the property had previously housed a traditional medicine clinic. The elderly doctor who ran it had retired at his daughter’s urging and planned to lease out the space.
What Natalie didn’t expect was that the person who showed up to handle the contract was the old man’s daughter, Zoey.
The moment Natalie saw her, she recognized her instantly.
Zoey was Victoria’s only friend outside the social circle–and one of the people responsible for her imprisonment.
When Natalie stepped inside the clinic, Zoey was sitting at the reception desk in a black, floor- length dress, her figure elegant and striking.
At the sound of footsteps, Zoey lifted her gaze, and Natalie finally got a clear look at her face.
When their eyes met, Zoey’s brows pinched slightly. “Natalie? What are you doing here?”
“Signing the contract.” Natalie glanced around casually. “Where’s your dad?”
Zoey blinked in surprise, her voice laced with a mocking undertone. “So the person eyeing my dad’s clinic is you?”
Only then did Natalie realize the clinic belonged to Zoey’s father.

“I heard you just got out of prison, already making a scene about divorcing Jackson. Now you’ve got nowhere to go, so you’re planning to use that cheap, second–rate medical knowledge of yours to open a clinic and scrape by?” Zoey’s lips curled in a cold smile. “With skills as lousy as yours, aren’t you afraid you’ll kill someone?”
Her tone was calm, but her words were sharp, like arrows aimed straight for the heart.
In the past, those barbs would have angered Natalie; now, they didn’t stir a single ripple inside
her.
your “My skills aren’t yours to judge. Honestly, I don’t even like this place that much. Since it’s family’s property, just forget it.” Natalie turned toward the door. “Find someone else to rent it.”
Even if she couldn’t find another suitable location, she refused to rent from anyone associated with Victoria.
Not because she feared trouble–but because she didn’t want unnecessary drama.
Most of all, it left a bitter taste in her mouth…
“You’ve already put down a deposit. You can’t just walk away.”
Zoey strode forward quickly, her eyes flashing with icy hostility as she blocked Natalie’s way.
Just then, a young, clear voice rang out from the doorway. “Mom, aren’t you the one going back on your word now?”
Natalie’s head snapped up. Victoria stood there with Aiden by her side, walking in from the
entrance.
So Zoey had known all along who was coming to sign the lease… and had called Victoria here just to watch the spectacle?
“That’s right, Ms. Foster. In front of your child, you should set a better example; otherwise, if little Aiden starts following your lead, that would be… unfortunate, wouldn’t it?”
Victoria removed her sunglasses, her lips curling into a faint, mocking smile.
“If I’d known the property was hers, I wouldn’t have come at all.”
Natalie’s voice was low, her expression utterly indifferent.
Zoey’s face twisted with irritation, her tone rising sharply. “What, my family’s property offended you somehow? If you think our place isn’t good enough for you, guess what? I don’t think much of you either!”
