Chapter 48 Don’t Ask About Harley
“Got it. Once I drop Ms. Foster off, I’ll make time to give her a call,” James said.
Natalie’s brows furrowed slightly.

Without thinking, she pulled out her phone, switched to the secondary SIM, and turned on airplane mode.
She wasn’t taking any chances; if they happened to call while she was still in the car, the ringtone would be impossible to explain.
After James ended the call, he focused on the road again.
The car soon reached the base of the hill and merged onto the main road.
Natalie instinctively reached over and closed the window.
She hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. “James, what does Mr. Collins need Harley for? Is it something serious?”
James blinked, surprised. “Ms. Foster, you know Harley?”
She’d already expected that question and had her response ready. “I’ve heard the name. Word is, she works with jade–supposedly good at restoration. But I don’t know her personally.”
“That’s right. Sounds like her reputation is pretty big if even you’ve heard of her. I don’t know much about her myself, but Mr. Collins broke a very important piece of jade. None of the usual masters could restore it completely; they said this Harley might be the only one who can.”
He continued easily, “They say she’s incredibly skilled when it comes to restoration. So I reached out to a few contacts and only managed to track down her number a few days ago.”
“Where did you get the number?”
“It came from one of our corporate clients. He said he knows Harley personally and passed it
to me.”
Natalie nodded slightly, her thoughts spinning.
So that’s how they got the number.
“Why do you ask, Ms. Foster? Do you have something that needs restoring too?”

“No,” she said evenly, “a friend of mine broke something. She needs it fixed, but an ordinary restorer can handle it.”
“If you ever need anything, you can reach out to me,” James offered with a polite smile.
Natalie lifted her gaze and caught his reflection in the rearview mirror, his expression warm and friendly.
For a moment, she froze. Yeah, no, that won’t be necessary.
By the time she got home, Lucy had already dressed Lily and slung her little backpack over her shoulders.
Natalie didn’t waste time. She grabbed Lily’s hand and headed out, calling a cab to take her to school.
When they arrived, it just so happened to be Aiden’s graduation ceremony.
Natalie spared only a brief glance at the schoolyard before quickly looking away.
Many students and parents were already taking pictures.
No doubt that so–called “happy family of three” was out there too. Natalie thought.
“Ms. Foster, what are they doing?”
Lily’s curiosity was piqued. She stopped walking, her wide eyes fixed on the lively scene, her small feet suddenly rooted to the ground.
“They’re having a graduation ceremony,” Natalie explained gently, crouching down to meet her gaze. “When you finish elementary school, you’ll have one too; you’ll get to take pictures with
your
classmates. And I’ll be there to share that moment with you.”
Her voice softened, her smile tender as she looked at the little girl’s bright, excited expression.
“I thought you said you weren’t coming. So why are you here?”
The familiar voice behind her froze her in place.
She turned and saw them–Jackson, Victoria, and Aiden.
Each adult held one of the boy’s hands.
At a glance, they looked every bit the perfect little family.
